we've been trying to get these characters together for a solid month. we've put them in different scenarios where something could happen. every single one turns in to their character chasing mine away

i'm fine with waiting, but i'm not fine with their character's attitude never changing towards mine. this wasn't supposed to be dubcon in the first place, but i can work with it if i'm given something. there's no development or even introspection that their character likes mine or wants them at all, which isn't what we've talked about when we chat about them

at this point, i'm going to say maybe your writing/playing styles just don't mesh properly and you should be upfront with your partner and tell them how you feel.

'i don't really know what to do here as every time we've tried to do x, it goes y instead. if you'd rather not play it out, that's okay, but i can't pick up on things you're not writing or putting into the tags, and if you'd rather not play it, then i'd appreciate knowing.'

yeah, that's rough when they don't even drop hints in the prose section that things are happening inside their head to suggest the character is warming up to the idea

but really, you should communicate with them about this.

not to pry or to drag you into an autistic slapfight, but did you ever tell them no dubcon/noncon? did they ever ask?

i'm not going to say they're not fishing for dubcon/noncon because from what you're saying it does kind of sound like they might be, but i also don't know the whole story. certain characters have hangups about sex and some don't. i wouldn't play a character with a sex hangup in a smut scene, but i have seen weirder stuff played successfully.

i never specifically said no dub/noncon, but i also didn't feel like it was necessary to say it because when we originally talked about getting the characters together, everything sounded mutual and consensual

at first i thought it was just a fluke. sometimes a scene goes tits up and i'm fine with that because it gives their relationship some flavor. i'm even fine with some friction between them growing pains even though it wasn't really what we talked about. that can be fun too! i haven't been in a hurry to hook them up

it keeps not going anywhere though, even though we've talked about them ooc between failed threads. she keeps telling me all about how he'd be so great with mine and he's going to practically jump mine from ust and she can't wait until they finally get together

i get all encouraged by that, start another scene, then it flops again and i'm like fuuuuccckkkk

honestly, at this point i just have to echo everyone else in here and say communicate with them, it's been multiple scenes now with the same result so clearly you two aren't on the same page somewhere. if they're fishing for dubcon/noncon shame on them, but if you didn't tell them no and it's not on your permissions post anywhere i can see how this kind of situation might happen. if people don't see a no, they hope for a maybe

you're not melting down over it so you've already got a leg up on most of us who get into these situations. just pm them, don't leave any room for ambiguity and let come what may. worst case scenario, you two are incompatible and you move on. it's tough but better than wasting another week of replies on a scene that won't give either of you what you want, no?

Man, I have no horse in this particular race, but when did it become appropriate to treat dubcon/noncon as opt-out rather than opt-in? I'm pretty sure at one point the consensus was that anyone who tried to spring their rape kink* on another player when it wasn't agreed to was a total asshole who deserved to be dragged across the anoncomms.

*Not saying that's what OP's partner in specific is doing, it sounds like equal odds they're trying for something like a slap-slap-kiss dynamic while being too shitty a writer to pull it off.

i think the reason why so many anons are going nuts over this is because they're not reading the whole thread, they just see "specify your preferences" and they translate that to "must say no to rape or be raped". what's being said here is "say what you want PERIOD" and honestly idk why anyone would find that objectionable (unless they want rape but only from certain players...? idk). again, if the mysterious second party here was actually springing rape on anyone, they'd have a case, but as is, they really don't. even if it turns out the 2nd party anon did want rape, they're guilty only of not asking for what they want, same as op itself. they're not going all selwyn and ~rape me scary sexy black man iyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan~ at op
