The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. they're really not. this is so boring and 'hey, let's do this thing' 'okay'. you guys talk about it like there's backstabbing and hand rubbing and evil plots and it's just people that don't want to let a game die. and the wg drop has it sound like people are shitting on gabby or dragging her through the mud or trying to get her to kill herself and... that's not at all what the deets are showing. this is such a grade a example of manufacturing wank.

....I love that when presented with a pastebin which opens with the line 'anyone interested in seeing if we can band together and take over?' your reaction is 'gee, these people were totally within their rights to steal a game right from underneath an emotionally fragile person who poured hours of their life into it, what bravery'.

I don't know where you come from, but where I come from it's kind of super backstabby to reopen a game without the head mod's permission when they all came to an agreement in a mod vote, which it says right in the OOC FAQ entry (http://ten-fwd-ooc.dreamwidth.org/141958.html#comments) and the reason why there's no linked evidence of people telling gabby to kill herself in public would be because people were pp and emailing her those things. source: i've seen her talk about them but i'm not stupid enough to pastebin private posts for wank fodder and i actually respect gabby as a human being.

There is literally a post in the OOC comm that includes the line Several players have alluded to conversations on Plurk, anon comms, and otherwise in private where the game's problems and the cause of those problems have been discussed in some detail. Some of these rumors may be true. Some may not..

How much more evidence do you need?

how is it stealing a game? the main mod wants to close it down due to them being too tired/exhausted/worn out to run it. it's not 'stealing a game', it's 'picking up something that's being discarded'. i'm not against gabby. i don't even know any of the people involved. as an outside party, i've been reading what's been cropping up on both comms in the last few days since this blew up and from what i can understand, the game is closing due to the mods not wanting to run it anymore and the under-mods wanted to keep it going and are trying to make it happen while other mods have stepped down or backed off.

it'd be backstabby to steal the game and open a similar premise with the mod's original game still open. it's not backstabby for people playing in a sandbox not to want to leave just because the person who built the box is. i really wish this mentality of 'i built it, i can burn it' would die out. i respect any mod that built something and did something with it, but once you open a game up and let people make it their own, it's not solely yours anymore. if gabby's done, she's done. no one's blaming her for being done. but don't salt the earth. just pass it off. it looks like players/mods just want to keep it going and not have it be just a sandbox, but continue to do mod-run plots.

where's the problem?

coming to an agreement with the rest of the team then going back on your agreement and revoking the decision without the rest of the team knowing IS backstabby

i want to reply to this, but i just don't have the energy to care about this as much as i probably should. it's a stupid game run by stupid people in a stupid corner of the internet. it has shitty players in it and bad ooc versions, so really, who cares if they want to play slap fights and he said/she said? let it close. or let it get stolen. i just don't care anymore. we cry about the dumbest shit.

yeah, the game is stupid. i don't give a fuck about the game either tbh. but it's less about the game and more about the behavior. you don't come to an agreement with a group of people and then go back on your agreement when the others aren't looking. that's just shitty behavior no matter what it applies to

no it's not, because it's not theirs to run. it's not their idea, premise or concept, and they are not the head mod. They were all junior mods Gabby brought on as replacements as far as i know, and most of them had barely been on-staff for more than three months.

Your argument for them doing what they did works just as well in the opposite direction. If they wanted another Star Trek game so badly they could've easily opened a DS9 or an original Trek game, but they got greedy and laid their mitts on something that's not even close to belonging to them. Or if they wanted a sandbox game so badly, they could've made an independent private game that carried over their cr. But that wasn't good enough for someone like Gen, who ~needed game structure and events. But they got greedy, thought they were slick about it and fucked themselves over. It's about ethics for one thing, and about misplaced greed for another.

to be clear, Gabby was the one who originally offered to let people keep the game open as a modplotless sandbox. that idea was always on the table and I think most people would have been happy with that option. it's only when Gen and co. started getting real pushy that this whole idea of keeping the game open came to the fore.

there were people who wanted to open a DS9 game with CRAUs, that was one of the original alternative ideas. but that was before that second announcement went up.

the idea may have been on the table but that post was made after the mod vote to close it. i don't know why you need to defend their position, they haven't a leg to stand on.

now the whole thing about new mods definitely didn't come around until after the vote happened.

unless you're the original creator of this game, then you don't get to have a say in whether or not this was an ~ethical violation. if you are the original creator of this game, then you should take it as a compliment that some of your players liked the structure so much that they've created a copy to continue playing in.
