how about that anime

IT'S HAPPENING. That's enough awesome to power Japanifornia through [number count] [noun]!

can't work out if i love it or hate it??? the animation is obviously wonk, the pacing for episode 1 was horrendous and some of the style choices don't seem to work for an anime. HOWEVER, it's AA and it's completely dumb but that's why i love it.

:< i feel your pain. it's a weird combo of TOTAL NOSTALGIA AND LOVE but then i want to be able to look at it critically. There's a LOT to improve on it

was also quietly hoping it might pump some life back into the AA rp scene but it wouldn't encourage a voice in me/make me pick up the games if i was new to it so far

anon you can literally play the trial the first episode was based on in less time than the episode took to cover it. what the fuck are you getting "poor pacing" from?

The time they used to cover the trial's not really the problem IMO. It's how they executed the dramatic bits; what's impressive with sprites and audio-textual cues was translated into a pretty bland experience in anime format.

maybe poor pacing was a bad choice of words, but it just seemed to jump from point to point, which just doesn't work in trial, at least for me?? sahwit's breakdown felt rushed to me as they were trying to fit a lot into the first episode right off the bat.

True, but it still felt...not rushed, but a little clumsy I guess. This is happening! Now this! And this part! The player figures out everything in different phases of the crossexamination, where it feels like Phoenix figures it out all in one go in the anime. I haven't played AA1 in a while, but it felt like it went by a little too fast to me. It was the first episode and that trial is basically a nothing trial so, no big, IMO.
