While all the games have their own stories/unique features, it's ultimately a tactics game with story written to tie the battles together. If you like tactics-style games (a la final fantasy tactics, rhapsody: a musical adventure, etc) it'll probably be up your alley, otherwise don't bother.

I do like that it has a feature that gives you more story the more you grind so leveling isn't so tedious, though.

do you like strategy rpgs? then yes, absolutely. one of the best of his genre. depending on which one in the saga you go for you may have different mechanics to deal with, some good, some bad, so take a read somewhere about differences and you'll be fine. the whol bonding between characters is easily skippable.

if you don't like SRPGs tho, i don't think it'sthe kind of game that would make an exception

The show had decent ideas, but the writing and execution is a mess. If the show introduces something potentially interesting it's immediately thrown out the window and never touched upon again or resolved by the end of the episode. The show introduces a bunch of characters, but they're either not fleshed out well enough to have much impact on the story or they only exist as convenient plot devices and/or exposition for the protagonist's benefit.

In other words, no, I would not recommend watching the anime. There's manga adaption that's currently ongoing, but I haven't read it so I can't say if it does anything to fix the problems the anime had or not.

charlotte is a complete trainwreck. the plot is standard "evil scientists experiment on teenagers with special superpowers." they actually refer to the evil scientists as "the scientists". there's not even a specific origanization the teenagers are fighting against.

two of the four "main characters" do not actually do anything and get completely forgotten about after an episode. and one of them is an idol. and has a split personality because why not?

one episode brings in a clone of iwasawa from angel beats so there can be music, then she never shows up again.

the female lead gets brutally beaten up by bullies at the beginning of one episode for reasons that do not get explained, and then this is never mentioned again.

in the last episode the male lead becomes jesus.

those are just a few things i found dumb about the show that immediately spring to mind. there are many more.

watch it only if you like being entertained by really bad stuff

i really enjoyed the premise, but the writing is terrible. every single thing that happens is a result of somebody refusing to share vital information with somebody else until things escalate to the point that the only possible outcome is the most horrible one. this happens repeatedly.

My advice? Watch the first five episodes of the first season and judge for yourself. Episode 5 is where things really start picking up and the show starts to shine. If you don't like it after the 5th episode then you probably never will.

I didn't like the choices they made about tragedy vs. moments of hope. Got to feel too much like schlock by the time I hit about five or ten eps in so I bailed.

i loved it but ymmw of course

some of the characters have great development and execution while others are pretty to look at. definitely don't take it too seriously because it's not a masterpiece by any means.

season 2 was preferable for me for a few reasons i won't say because (probably obvious by now) spoilers

star vs the forces of evil is pretty cute. i wouldn't say it's really amazing and on the level of like adventure time and gravity falls but it's enjoyable to just have on to pass the time even if its not enthralling,

another big yes for twin peaks here. the anons are right that there's a point in watching where it takes a left turn into the absurd and pretty stupid in some areas. very soap opera, but idk i still enjoyed the ride. enough of the characters remained enjoyable for me to be worth it.

ive only seen 3-4 episodes of star, and i can honestly take or leave it. not ALL of the humor comes from the lol so random mentality, but there's still plenty. you will get VERY tired of her attack names though. theme song's catchy as hell. every time i watch it i get the thought that i'm watching an episode of deviantart comments. but i have a super low tolerance for random humor. imo it's one of those shows you'd have to watch an ep or two for yourself and see what you think.

these would be all anime because I don't have enough time right now to commit to a long manga series, and I'm pretty sure both Karin + Vampire Knight are longer in the manga than the anime. for Yuuki Yuna, I prefer magical girl series to play things straight more than deconstruction—or, at least, if it's a deconstruction, do it better than PMMM: Rebellion which (imo) relied more on shock factor than actual twists.
