rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Charlotte (The anime)

The show had decent ideas, but the writing and execution is a mess. If the show introduces something potentially interesting it's immediately thrown out the window and never touched upon again or resolved by the end of the episode. The show introduces a bunch of characters, but they're either not fleshed out well enough to have much impact on the story or they only exist as convenient plot devices and/or exposition for the protagonist's benefit.

In other words, no, I would not recommend watching the anime. There's manga adaption that's currently ongoing, but I haven't read it so I can't say if it does anything to fix the problems the anime had or not.

charlotte is a complete trainwreck. the plot is standard "evil scientists experiment on teenagers with special superpowers." they actually refer to the evil scientists as "the scientists". there's not even a specific origanization the teenagers are fighting against.

two of the four "main characters" do not actually do anything and get completely forgotten about after an episode. and one of them is an idol. and has a split personality because why not?

one episode brings in a clone of iwasawa from angel beats so there can be music, then she never shows up again.

the female lead gets brutally beaten up by bullies at the beginning of one episode for reasons that do not get explained, and then this is never mentioned again.

in the last episode the male lead becomes jesus.

those are just a few things i found dumb about the show that immediately spring to mind. there are many more.

watch it only if you like being entertained by really bad stuff
