After it was pointed out to me in the Wankgate thread, I actually altered my response to this issue on TLH, as this was a very good point. I can't change anonymous comments, though, and I didn't want to discuss the matter further on Wankgate, since we've been asked not to do so except in the appropriate place.

Since we have NOT been asked, yet, to do anything specific in this community, I'm fine to have a bit more open discussion of this, here, but as soon as we're asked to do otherwise by anyone from rpanons, I'll need to ask everyone to move it to private, or to the Contact the Mods post of TLH.

That said, let me make a more officially official statement of this:

I am not EVER for ANY reason going to ban a player from TLH for any offense they have committed prior to playing at TLH. Period.

I completely understand keeping someone out of a game, if the playerbase is uncomfortable with them, because that is a closed community of people, and your success in the game is directly affected by the people you interact with. They're like a workplace, where you have to have a specific keycard to enter, and what affects one person affects literally everyone in the community.

But TLH is an open community. It is no more private or locked or inaccessible than walking, say, into a Starbucks. (A... Starbucks where people are having sex... I guess? Look, just bear with me on the metaphor a moment.) All of humanity goes in and out of a Starbucks, there's nothing you have to do to get in other than be dressed, pretty much, and you can come in and get your coffee and leave. No one HAS to interact with each other and everyone just comes in, gets their cup of coffee and leaves. There are some regulars, who all the baristas know, and who probably all know each other, but the vast majority of the people coming through are there and then gone, or come back every now and then. It's not the same kind of environment AT ALL.

I'm just going to outright say it-- while I might disagree as a person and as human being with someone's opinions or actions, as a mod, I don't care what you've done. Torture kittens and post it on YouTube, if you're not disturbing the peace on the community, you can post there. I might think you're a despicable human being, but you're not actively fucking up the community, and that is the part I hold sway over. I'm not here to police anyone's lives or choices or crimes or anything else, whether I agree with them or not.

I will ban people for pretty much one thing, and that is harassment or otherwise being a raging douche-canoe on TLH or TLH OOC, or directly related to a thread being played in TLH, if that can be proven. That's what I have control over, that's what I will be policing. That's it. That's all.

I'm happy to discuss this decision making process with anyone who wishes to discuss it, though I would much, much prefer to either do this on TLH, or privately, rather than here.

If you have any harassment reports to make, I will only be accepting those through the Contact the Mods post, through a PM to this journal, or through a private plurk, and will only discuss those there.

Well, I can see why. The mods already knew about his 'past history,' so to speak, and they didn't ban him. To do it just because people are coming to them now will set a weird precedent.

Somebody needs to learn this little thing called "patience". If this Ken guy is this terrible elsewhere, he's bound to slip up at TLH eventually and give the mod team a reason to ban him. As much as you seem to hate it (and I do, too, but I'm not on the mod team - I probably would ban him if I ran TLH, but I don't - and you don't either), you're just going to have to wait for inevitability to take its course.

You see, it's not exactly his behaviour but what he is. He is an IRL child rapist who is playing child rape, with people who do not know what he is. Maybe they would choose to play with him but refusing them that choice is dreadful in itself.

TBH I'd think their stance would create a slippery-slope of an entirely different kind.

But I don't mind the idea of people abandoning the comm or the concept of any given comm burning to the ground so I don't really care which way it goes, whether it works, creates the slippery slope I'm mentioning or the decision is overturned.

Alright guys. I came here and posted my ruling because I felt that there was enough reaction from the anon-comms that an official response was necessary, but I'm moving the mod side of this discussion back to TLH and the various channels where it belongs.

I am more than willing to listen to any dissension from actual TLH players. I am willing to continue this discussion privately, and I am willing to potentially alter my decision based on well reasoned arguments, if they are made through one of the official channels. I also apologize if any of my wording has offended anyone-- that was certainly not my intent.

the dude is a self-professed irl child rapist who is using the comm to play out child rape, with people that he DOES NOT warn about his past in advance, which robs them of the opportunity to make an informed decision about whether or not they will be comfortable playing with him. it's my understanding that this even includes people with their own publicized history of abuse who understandably might have their mental safety especially threatened if they later discovered they were playing out scenes with an irl abuser.

what more discussion needs to be had over why this is sickening and completely reprehensible behavior in a comm that pushes heavily the idea of stating personal preferences and boundaries and respecting those of others in order to create a comfortable environment for playing out kink? Ken is violating the community's trust compact and knowingly and deliberately threatening the established comfort zones of other players with his behavior. That should be a bannable offense in any responsibly run kink-oriented community.

As a person who has been taken advantage of in the past by persons like Ken, and watching them walk away from the situation scott-free and all and leaving myself with a lot of issues to deal by myself for the following years to come, your decision and subsequent actions in regards to him is both upsetting and disgusting. Let's have that out of the way.

People are telling you right here and right now that no, they are not okay with this choice of yours. Of course they are players in this dressing room because they're taking their time and effort to comment here or have friends who play here. They're only doing this under anon because surprise: They don't trust you enough with their identities. Seeing what you are doing here, after all, I can't blame them. Look at what you're saying here in your comments:

This just had me reeling when I read this because, excuse my French, what the flying fuck?

Ken will disturb the community with his very presence there due to not only his known background that he admitted himself but his shameless continuing of playing characters who have in canon abused children or plays out threads/scenarios where his character abuses children.

Let me repeat that for you: Ken admitted to being a child abuser with horrifying graphic details and, to this day, plays characters who abuse children or sexually assault them. This is enough to make people like I have their red flags raise alarm because it doesn't sound like he's changed or is trying to change but instead inflicts this on unsuspecting people. People who possibly have been through what I've been through, what Ken made others go through. No one wishes to play with anyone like that or be in a place that allows someone like that because it is downright wrong and uncomfortable to the point it will no doubt trigger certain people when they discover they just played out a non-con scene with a rl-rapist.

To expound more on the situation since it is clear you are either ignoring this part so thoroughly or are ignorant of it and wish not to educate yourself on it further: We know of Ken's status as a sexual abuser since he used this story in an attempt generate pity for himself during his days when he was still in a game. A situation arose when he was following two players and a scene happened that he did not like. He spoke of how he was triggered which brought discussion of the use of warnings. The outcome was not what he wanted so he posted the entry on how he took advantage of his siblings well until he was +13 because he wanted people to agree with him. Not out of remorse or anything like that but because he didn't get his way in a situation.

This is what sparked this situation with Ken: His selfishness, his refusal to see he did something wrong, his attempts to manipulate and use people like he has done before. He continues to do so with how he reacts to when being told to not join games or has been informed he's been preemptively banned from somewhere. He mopes about it, doesn't understand why people seem so upset with him. This is why people are disagreeing badly with your call here and in other places: He hasn't learned his lesson and, perhaps, won't in the future and no one wants to deal with such a person.

And to close this off since I'm honestly out of patience on this but wish to explain why a lot of us will not go to you to 'talk more on this':

I also find your neverending insistence that anyone who wishes to continue this conversation with you do so in PMs or Private Plurks or the Mod Contact page an eyeroll-inducing concept. You suddenly wish to take this behind private conversations for the players' sake when you already are disregarding a large majority of people as it is with your choice in letting Ken come to here? Really now? Is it because you actually care for the players' well beings or wish to control the mess you made yourself somehow? You may think of the former but many are now thinking of the latter with how we even got to here. Just to put this in the others' possible perspective.
