idk about everyone else, but if I wanted setting/events/plot I'd just go app at a game. my perfect DR is an open-concept community where you can play whatever the shit you want with people and the OP determines the setting and RP direction. basically a public musebox, I guess. that's why I like dear_mun so much--not so much the actual 'dear mun' part but the threads can go anywhere you like.

entered in a contest where the winners are finally being announced. a bunch of my friends got notification emails today saying they've placed. i got all excited when i came home to a bunch of unread emails, but they all turned out to be adverts.

i'm torn between feeling really irrationally bummed out (they usually take a few days notifying everyone, so i could find out tomorrow or the day after) and extremely anxious. i don't even know if i placed or not and it's pretty damn presumptuous to think of myself as waiting for a notification, but-- but--

aaaaaaaaaaaargh. and it's a contest that's a moderately big deal too.

Feeling sort of bummed out and worried a bunch of old RP friends don't really care for me anymore. Everyone rushes to give a mutual friend asspats when she whines about how she thinks she sucks too badly at RPing to app to all the new games some of us are going to, but if I were to plurk anything remotely similar not a single one would give a damn.

Essentially, I'm sad because no one is paying attention to me, and it's really fucking stupid but I can't help it.

Also still waiting to hear back from some mods about my app to a game.

like not only were the character's actions stupid, you could not begin to imagine why the player thought it would be a good idea to have them do it

a character infects themselves with a hideous contagious disease that requires them to be killed afterwards to prevent the spread of it. and they got themselves infected by molesting another character.

basically think like super-AIDS in amat, and the character gets it by raping someone else.

they sound like they aren't aware of how "acting" works

occasionally actors will do things that aren't in the script, but the directors like it so it ends up being part of the film

voice actors on occasion do this too

ever watch the don bluth movie "all dogs go to heaven"? believe it or not, most of the dialogue in that movie was improv. the director said the script was pretty boring compared to what the VAs were coming up with on their own, and let them mostly do what they wanted to. the result is that the film ended up being more creative than it otherwise would have been.

is it ungrateful to be annoyed that your rare free time is being taken away from you to do something someone else wants, even if they are voluntarily doing all of the grunt work in organising it?

it'll be fun for them, but I honestly don't want to go since I will be bored out of my mind (and there's only so many ways I can tell this person without being a complete dickbag)

I know this feeling. I wouldn't call it "ungrateful," but I don't have a better word for it either. I just mostly feel bad about because: 1) I should have just said something, and 2) Why did I think my friends couldn't handle me politely saying "Thanks for wanting me there, I appreciate the effort but it's just not my thing."? Geez, self.

So, yeah. If you've already said you're going to go, then just try to go in with an open mind. I've found that I'm rarely ever as OMGSOBORED as I think I'm going to be, so maybe it won't be as bad as you think, either.

There are a lot of teens and twenty-somethings rping, but not many 30+. Is this just down to younger people generally having more time and usually more familiarity with computers, or is to do with maturity?

22 here and I can already feel my enthusiasm waning. Like, I have a lot of fun in my game, but I'm so much less attentive about it. I can't handle fast games anymore because I just don't check them anymore. I have other hobbies, plus work.

I tag much slower too, which I don't like. It's not even that I have to think about the tags more, I just put them off like hell because I'm finding other things more interesting. RP used to be my main online hobby and now it's more like 50% of my free time. Or less.

Someone showed a lot of interest in playing with one of my characters, who happens to be a close, apparently rarely played relative of their character's.

I googled their handles because plenty of people in this fandom are crazy and they apparently love playing out incest, which is a squick of mine.
