what is the dumbest thing you've ever seen someone do in rp

like not only were the character's actions stupid, you could not begin to imagine why the player thought it would be a good idea to have them do it

a character infects themselves with a hideous contagious disease that requires them to be killed afterwards to prevent the spread of it. and they got themselves infected by molesting another character.

basically think like super-AIDS in amat, and the character gets it by raping someone else.

my ex-RP partner wrote her character falling into the hands of rapists at every turn. you'd think the world was populated by nothing but rapists the way everyone was just -dying- to rape it up. i'd save her character only for her to somehow end up alone in a tool shed with a rapist. or in a hotel room with a rapist. or in an alley with a rapist. this was a modern day RP, in a normal, statistically safe city.

Sounds like she had a fetish and was using you to play it out, lol

lol maybe she did... there were a few times she was very adamant that even if my character was close by, he wouldn't be able to stop the rape. it just made for a really depressing experience.

A character who was part of a horribly oppressed minority group, who had friends and family members wanted for a felony, inviting one of the investigators running the case out to lunch, at which meal she talked in circles in a way that clearly indicated she knew who had done it. And then expecting that this government employee (whom she had met once before that and who to all appearances was totally A-okay with and participating in the treatment of the minority in question), would just go "oh, well, things are bad for you guys, I'll ignore all the evidence and suspicious information you just handed me and stop the investigation" rather than putting a tail on her or arresting her to draw her friends/family out.

And neither the character nor the player saw anything monumentally stupid about this. At all.

someone did a plot where the character's breast cancer might be cured by the magical space technology we had.

it's like nobody taught them the concept of good taste

people playing up intimate medical scenes with doctor characters who clearly have no idea how even basic first aid works.

stopping to dig a bullet out of a wounded person who's bleeding to death? ........really?

Oh, man, anyone insisting on "getting the bullet out" in an emergency medical context is my biggest fucking pet peeve.

Related to the post directly above mine here: an immortal healer character with a bullet lodged in their fucking spine insisting that it had to come out right the fuck now and talking a completely untrained civilian through digging it out from the front with a fucking knife.

Because it was lodged "right at the base of their neck" and if anyone rolled them over or moved them they would be paralyzed FOREVER and unable to die sob sob angst desu desu. Because a fucking SPINAL CORD INFECTION wouldn't do that job nicely anyfuckingway. What would happen if said untrained amateur accidentally nicked one of the many major blood vessels in the neck was never touched on. Can you be immortal after being exsanguinated?

my character and someone else's were having personal problems. I suggested to the other player that the characters talk about what's going on to try and reach a solution.

next day the other player gives her character amnesia concerning the thing that's causing the problems. her character is just fine and dandy and mine is still angry and frustrated because nothing got resolved. would have been less annoying if the player hadn't been all "BUT SHE FORGOT WHAT HAPPENED SO EVERYTHING SHOULD BE BETTER NOW"

tbh though I know exactly why the player did this: to give her character something angst and cry about. girl fucking loved angst. choked us all to death on it.

and after I specifically told the other player I wasn't into that, and didn't want to play it.

suddenly the day after they had sex her character is throwing up and rubbing his belly and I'm like LOL BYE.

a lawyer character talking about the time she went up against a powerful, well-connected, wealthy politician accused of child molestation.

apparently the arrest, trial, and conviction took "about an hour". she was almost late for her lunch break, guys!

it was written completely seriously, in a drama game, by a player who has no sense of humor and takes herself and her writing way too seriously. but that is so ridiculous that to this day i have no idea if it was supposed to be a joke or not...
