This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

and yeah, I know what they're trying to say with it, but i don't usually see people meaning "it's just for fun, stop taking it so seriously!" it's more like "me, actually answer tags/acknowledge crit/care about other people's fun? l m a o"

I say pretendy funtiems mostly when I'm trying to assure my friend who feels insecure about a character (that she plays extremely well) because she worries about doing them justice but... like you're here for you're own enjoyment firstly so who the fuck cares?

But that could fit into your asshole description. IDK.

haha yeah, it bugs me how most of the people I see throwing this phrase around are misconstruing the point of the post, which was that RP is nothing to get genuinely perturbed about. instead people interpret it as meaning that ANY annoyance over RP is completely unjustified and a sign that you're taking it too seriously, even if the things you're annoyed about are taking the fun out of your hobby and therefore invalidating the point of even doing it in the first place.

I use pretendy funtiems all the time, sometimes joking around with friends when we're talking about rp, and when talking about ragingly butthurt people who should just remember that this is pretendy funtiems.

I say it when I'm trying to put the "importance" of roleplay back into perspective or having a little fun at my own expense, but yeah, I can admit there's a smarmy asshole factor to it sometimes.
