rp woes too tbh

when you were really excited to do all your tags and just enjoy rp again, but life abruptly hit you like 50 different trucks and cars at once, so you're hoping nobody minds it might take a bit in your crawl back to the top of tag and ooc communication mountain

also besides being constantly drowsy and miserable, my throat feels like a cavern inhabited by the most feral mucus bats known to mankind and it sucks

hoping a shower will help a little... tired of being sick and everything else that took me on a rollercoaster recently made me feel worse, esp since i feel like i'm letting people down or disappointing them, even though i've been trying to be there and help support everyone i can too

would really like a high fantasy game :(

I feel like high fantasy would be a lot of work to make. There's have to be a lot of interest needed to make it worth it.

I think if my main game closes, I will finally retire from dwrp completely. I feel I've gotten to a point where I just can't connect with anyone long enough to feel friendship, and I've gotten too tired of expecting things outside of being in a game together. I don't live near most rpers and I don't like those who do live nearby, and I'm just tired.

I do have hobbies outside of dwrp, and I have plenty of things I still plan on doing. I think it's just me stubbornly wanting to matter past what canon or character I play at any time.

for most of my rp career I've played characters who don't have any wider pop culture relevance so I've never dealt with this before, but now playing a character from a long-running and well known franchise (think your Star Trek/Star Wars/literally anything that gets referenced or parodied in other media frequently) I've realized that people will just use this to infomod and 4th wall my character openly and it's kind of amazing

like here's an example similar to something that's happened to me; for the sake of the example say I'm playing Obi-wan. I have him introduce himself as Ben and not say anything about Jedi because he's trying to keep his identity on the downlow while adjusting to this new world and not knowing who all may be here who know the name Obi-wan. and then another character just knows his name and that he's a Jedi anyway on their first meeting because their character's canon has a "help me Obi-wan you're my only hope" joke at some point.

I didn't bother reporting it or saying anything to player about it because it didn't feel worth making a fuss about at the time and they dropped out the game anyway but I'd never been so blatantly infomodded before and I was kind of stunned. and since then it just keeps happening in big and small ways. it's irritating.

edgerunners was a while ago and if that was the source maybe the games would actually have cyberpunk themes instead of "vaguely futuristic with neon"

i guess you're right, but it was the only cyberpunk-relevant thing i could think of that seemed to actually have a bit of an impact culturally, and synflux listed it as an influence

...in recent years, i mean. every other relevant cyberpunk series i could think of was much older

How are the tables organised? What are the most common issues you have to deal with?

I just really want to play an arranged marriage. I’ve done it as an M/M thread once a long time ago, but I’d love to do an M/F version!

It’s not just the smut I want to do - although I like smut as well, maybe with some breeding kink in there because the point of the arranged marriage is to produce an heir to the family - but also all the interesting emotional stuff that surrounds two people who don’t know each other being forced to get to know one another very quickly. Lots of learning to trust one another, lots of awkwardness and sweetness and negotiation.

Putting it all in a worldbuilding context is a must, too - an arranged marriage is bound to have some intrigue around it, maybe palace intrigue or political intrigue if the marriage is between two very powerful families. Clashes of cultures or even species would be awesome - two people who don’t know each other and who also come from totally different cultural contexts!

my condolences anon... i hope you feel better soon. i know if it were me i wouldnt mind you needing a break for your health, i certainly get it... the only thing i was able to find to help with the mucus was afrin, which i used very sparingly because prolonged use can cause worse problems...

what i did was spray once in each nostril then used saline rinse/neti pot, mostly just did it that way because nothing got through otherwise

instead of trying to fight with bullies who don't care (as you rightfully know is useless), maybe reach out to the person you like to plot or hang out out something. be a positive force instead of negative. it can be nice to know there are people who care or support you.

ayrt, but i wouldn't be surprised, nonny, it def seems like two or more things are going around atm

yeah, my doc went on vacation, so i visited the local urgent care and also still got a np at the clinic to give me a few things, so i've got a whole ent combo meal of medicine. basically they figured throw things and see what works, if it works. one of the things was my nasal spray, but i figured since it didn't seem like sinuses, i'd hold off. i might try it now though, and see about the saline rinse tomorrow or something when i'm not as tired

tysm though! and yeah, ultimately, i'm sure everyone doesn't mind, it's more likely me getting in my head about it and things... just kind of sucks when you really want to do stuff and your body wants different. ironically was about to rest and figured i'd check back here just in case, so doing just that! hopefully will feel better sooner than later, and ty again for your wishes and advice! the care is really appreciated. and ofc, glad you're hopefully starting to feel better too, so pls also be safe and take care <3

How do you even break into this kind of field? Luck of the draw? Just happening to get noticed by the right people at the right time? I always feel like I'd never have time to pump out art and drop it all over social media in a desperate attempt to get noticed thanks to working full time so I always talk myself out of trying :(

played a lot of pop culture icons myself, but it definitely feels like the casual infomodding from players has really grown these past few years. make sure to specify no 4thwalling on your prefs/ooc plot info, and nip it in the bud oocly when it happens.
