Reading about those plurks is making me clench my teeth on your behalf lol, Jesus. It blows my mind a little to realize that people in this hobby still behave this way even with most of us now in our 30s.

this. the people who are being the flakes need to show consideration for other people as well, which means realistically assessing how much time and energy you have to commit to rp and not overextending yourself/knowing when you need to step back for a while.

my rp partner is currently taking an rp break because she's dealing with a lot of rl stuff right now. i miss her tags, but i would much rather she put rp on the backburner if she isn't feeling it rather than trying to force herself to tag back or promising she's going to tag and then not doing it.

I am also currently running limited slots of discounted emergency commissions.

The book Halo: Epitaph came out a few days ago, finally finished reading it. Don't know what's the general consensus on the Forerunner Trilogy here, but it's written in the vein of those books, elaborating further on the Didact's story and wrapping up what would have been the Reclaimer Saga... and honestly, I loved the book. Kelly Gay is probably one of their best writers right now.

It has the usual problem that it's shit that really needed to be in the games to explain stuff. That said, it was a really good book IMHO, both in emotion and in lore. It's meant to bridge Halo 4, 5, and some of Infinite.

Still hankering for a long-form psl similar to one I did in the past, where a group of characters travel across different worlds, each with their own goals a la CLAMP's Tsubasa series. Bonus if the heart of the group is a couple/multiple characters in the group are paired off in some way over time, bonding through whatever struggles they face together during their travels.

I just really love world building and guiding characters through different scenarios, and having just two players playing 2-3 characters each allows for fun group dynamics you can't easily replicate in games.

but that's exactly what the people who keep ghosting are expecting the other person in the thread to be. they want to be able to fuck off into the ether for however long but then expect the other person to still be excited to tag them back when THEY want tags.

But that's... exactly my point? Not wanting to tag someone who drops threads every time is me managing my reaction to them, and not asking tags from someone who clearly has too much going on to finish a thread doesn't make people not compassionate. People can understand circumstances but also not want to have to play with someone who constantly drops things on them.

In any case, you're right that I can't control anyone and I always remove flakes from my circle when they start acting like a victim. I just think people should stop acting like wanting reciprocation means not being compassionate, especially in cases like OPs where it's a constant issue.

Sometimes things click with a new rp partner and it is amazing but it quickly becomes clear they're way more creative and to be quite honest, smarter than I could ever hope to be. Inevitably, this ends up with things fizzling out because while I can provide a lot of interesting initial bones to chew on, I can never keep up and they will get bored.

I don't want this to happen again, but I feel it starting.
