getting so tired of older fans going into fandom spaces for adventure shows (books, movies, etc) for children to loudly talk about how ~problematic~ it is that children are the main characters of adventure stories for children

if you're old enough that the thought of a precious bb fighting a dragon or defeating a dumb costumed supervillain or something traumatizes you, and you need to constantly go on at length about how fictional children should never be permitted to have adventures and everyone else in the story should have prevented it, it's seriously time for you to either shift your attention to the story's older characters like the rest of us or just get out

i don't know how else to put this: these characters clearly aren't for you anymore, and it chaps my ass to see fun-sucking adults poisoning it for younger fans who see this shit. maybe let them have their daydreams without you essentially telling them they're only allowed to daydream about sitting in soft padded rooms playing with stuffed animals until they're 30

Just someone taking RP way too seriously. Their shipping PSL partner posted an ad on EMP seeking castmates for their game. "BUT WHY DIDN"T THEY INVITE ME???" ensued.

The (´･ω･`) emoji is probably being used in the header b/c this anon was the same flavor of awkward as the guy in that old 2chan story, "The Denko Saga".

would you think it was weird or annoying if your obscure character played with someone, the other player got into your canon, and the character you played was automatically their favorite? ex. you thread with someone as Edgar Linton, the other player is inspired to read Wuthering Heights and Edgar is their absolute favorite character.

i ask because i am the one who does this and it feels idk, shallow or insincere somehow, like it looks as though i only like that character bc of their connection with mine? in honesty i think it's because seeing someone write that character gives me an insight into them that canon might not provide and makes them seem more "real" to me than the other characters, so when i see them in action i think about the backstory and characterization the other writer put into them and enjoy the point of view this provides. but i'm always nervous that if the other writer knows their character is my fave they will think i'm copying them, or that i just see their character as an extension of mine by way of association... idk if that makes any sense.

have you ever been on either end of this situation? how did it make you feel?

It makes me happy, honestly. I'm glad my writing conveyed a connection with the character that held up in reading the canon. I love sharing my passion! If I write the character, it's because I adore them, so spreading that around is neat.

this is probably a big stretch, but i really liked the world & characters. would love to do something with the cast some years after the end of the movie. hoping to play luca off of anyone, and am more than happy with totally gen setups - i just think the worldbuilding is neat.

Every month I check the profile pages of the network and logs comm of every publicly advertised game I know of to see how many comments are made to the community each month, and compared it to the taken character list. It's not perfect (it can't keep track of inbox threads, for example) but it is a look at some interesting averages.

A note regarding speed for Apocalypse How: app acceptances went out in the second half of the month. The number of tags this month is for July 19th-30th. Based on that, I wouldn't consider the game "Slow", and expect it to be medium to fast in future months.

You'd actually be surprised how popular the canon is around here--I'm in a game with a Jon, Martin and Elias, with a friend planning on TDMing Tim. So there's definitely a good few people out there. Some are still dooting around Bakerstreet, too.

Someone posted an explanation a long time ago but I forgot: why does logging in and out send you back one page?

99% of the time it doesn't matter but after trying to do an inbox thread with someone who has a bunch of elaborate code on their journal, I'm slightly annoyed.

I wish I could figure out a decent alias name. The internet is more fun when you're anonymous for the most part. Never understood how people can openly post photos of themselves and go by their real names lol what's the point in that

think of something you like. look at your friend group/game mates to make sure you're not coming up with the third 'kit/kat/jen'. if you like fairy tales, maybe myth or grimm or fable or something. it doesn't have to be a 'name' so much as just something that's "you", if you get my drift. like the egyptian pantheon? bast or anubis or horus. like food? cookie or tea or churro. we have people (and this isn't to degrade or be negative, just to point out) named chips, noodle, toast, batty, cloud, tree. pick something that you like. ocean, river, puffy, marshmallow, pink, purple, aqua, bead, fringe, ember, voldy. pick a character you really like that you don't play (i'd suggest one you do like and play, but then someone can try to claim 'soulbonder', so the opposite is best.)

make a list, then go through what you like best. pick your favorite time period, geographic location, whatever. i'd think narrowing it down to just one is the harder part.
