I'd roleplay gen with teenagers, I'd have casual conversation with them, but I don't think I'd really befriend any. Not in the way I do with people my age, anyway.

if you can't legally drink until 21 or buy a gun or lottery ticket in the us, then how can you actually call yourself an adult? you're prohibited from doing most of what's available. in fact, most car rental services won't rent to anyone under 25. fact is, someone that's over the age of 30 is going to think 19 is under the age they might be comfortable with and you screaming 'but i'm an adult' while stamping your feet isn't proving them wrong.

You can sign contracts, enlist in the military, take financial recognizance for yourself, marry without needing parental consent, consent to sexual activity, buy lottery tickets, work full time, etc etc etc...

Literally the only legal thing you can't do at 18 is buy alcohol.

That being said, someone who doesn't want to smut with 18-19yos is perfectly within their rights. That's not about legal majority.

... and? just because someone's legally allowed to 'be an adult' doesn't mean they're not still a minor. 18 isn't even legal for alcohol and lottery in canada (19), so maybe i, a 40 year old, don't want to be somehow thought to be grooming or being inappropriate regarding threading smut with someone that's not legal in my country, or in the us, where they're probably from. considering some people can be petty assholes over nothing, i'm safeguarding myself in case someone wants to pull the 'smutting with a minor' crap. maybe i'm just not comfortable discussing sex with people literally not at the half of my age mark.

it's not about getting off or sexual feelings. i'm pretty much nonsexual at this point. i had my slut phase and got all my sexy needs and wants out when i was in my 20s. now i just like to write about it, but it doesn't mean i don't want to make sure i'm not going to have some 18 year old take it the wrong way or get in shit for being the older party in a thread that if it was between rl people could be illegal. i'm not comfortable with underage. i don't play underage smut. means i'm sure as hell not going to want to smut with anyone underage. sorry that's a hard thing for you to swallow.
