i think it's cool! the people who were freaking out about it when it was announced were way overreacting - personally i've been hoping for something like this to shake up the excursion-SOL pattern, and it gives the characters something of consequence to consider ICly besides the danger of an Arehtei falling out of balance.

I'm into it! What the first anon said is true but it bothered me like the weeb I am that these characters are boss level when most characters in game could easily take them. I am really interested in Sosyne aftermath though! I didn't expect a post like that one.

is there anyone in this game that actually tags back reliably and at a decent speed? maybe i have just had bad luck but i keep finding myself struggling to make ac despite tagging around either because threads get dropped or people take close to a week between tags.

I keep the hiatus page tracked and there's been a ton of people away for whole months at a time all summer long. You're probably noticing that, too.

Unfortunately in my case it seems there are only a handful of people that I tag that actually tag me back reliably.

I try to tag out a lot, but in most cases the other party is busy so I either get a few tags or none at all. It stinks, which is why I end up usually only tagging the same few people.

yeah, that is exactly the problem i'm having. i get a few tags and then nothing so my threads don't go anywhere. everyone seems really friendly ooc but i have been here a couple of months now and i still don't feel like i have any real cr because i have only had a few threads with any real substance. it's kind of a bummer. :(

I can be slow sometimes but if you told me I was I'd gladly try to prioritize. A lot of people seem to be 'intentionally' slow by which I mean they can't keep up with one character in the game but still play a few and are in a few games. I don't mean a tag every day or so either I mean unreliable and slow always and they wouldn't be quite so bad if they weren't playing so many. I just want to know how they get meaningful CR at their speed.

The fastest and most 'reliable' are some of the worst who give the least. I'd suggest looking around and find someone who gives tags your like and try from there. It's worked for me. A word of caution to avoid mod characters and most of their canons and friends in those canons. They're the worst offenders.

this actually makes me a little sad, because I am pretty sure I know which sets of people you're talking about/which casts and it bums me out that others have dealt with this like I have.

Like for me it's gotten so bad that I'm actually in one of the "casts" and I feel like my character has been adopted somewhere else because at least this other cast wants to tag me.

oh yeah, i'm not expecting tags every single day because i can't always tag every day myself and i know that life happens and sometimes you come home from work and stare at your inbox and then go watch cat videos on youtube instead. but when it's consistently 4+ days between tags, it makes it impossible to build cr or have threads go anywhere. i don't mind that happening occasionally but i don't want half my cr to consist of me pming people to ask how a thread went because we never got more than six tags in. when that happens in a first thread it makes it really awkward to try to tag that character again because i have no idea how my character feels about theirs or how their interactions are likely to go.

i could buy it being summer vacations and hiatuses if i hadn't tagged some of these people a couple of times in different months and gotten the same response. it's just really frustrating.

If you're relying on tags from the month before to pass an already easy AC for the current month, what were you even doing all month?

Nowhere on the mod post is it asking for AC crit/opinions, but people seem to be giving them anyway. How much more give are people expecting on an already simple requirement?

Prioritize threads that count for the current month's AC. It's not hard.

I can understand the confusion in this case: the Helisium overflow log was posted in August, so it's easy to see how people would think that tagging into or tagging something new in it would count for August's AC. I like the one suggestion that was made of having little OOC notes on event posts stating clearly what month/months the event post count as AC for.

Although tbh, I think the AC could use some serious reworking. There are way too many qualifications for what does and doesn't count for AC for a game with such a low comment count requirement. I'm in another game with a significantly higher AC requirement and its AC isn't anywhere near as complex, so to me it's very weird to have a game that's essentially a glorified sandbox have an entire list of "this counts for AC but this doesn't, except in this situation" rules. That's the kind of thing I would expect from a plot-intensive game, not something that is mostly slice of life.

TBF I've had some threads run over from months before that have been really important to my character or that I just enjoy. If it's clear I'm actively tagging and the thread is ongoing why can't that be ok for ac if it started a few days before the acceptable AC period?

It's sad seeing all the dislike for "grimdark" or anything moving away from the usual SOL. Yeah I get if you do want it then app to a game that better works for you, but I'm really excited for all this fallout and Otherworlders getting shit for it.

honestly i'm really liking this direction for the game -- but i'm also really new, as in, only been here a few months new, so i feel like my input doesn't really mean as much compared to the people who have been here longer.

but i enjoy both sol and conflict driven stuff, so.

How are people feeling about an Arehtei potentially kicking the bucket? Either through their natural life cycle or Velvet and Machina killing them.

i love the idea but i'm not so sure how i feel about having it happen right on the heels of such a major plot that involved people trying to kill an arehtei. the timing just feels like a ploy for cheap drama to me, i'd rather the mods hold off a few months and let the ic consequences from this settle first before doing anything like that. i think that's why so many people said they don't want it to go grimdark - characters are already dealing with the aftereffects of this plot and any arehtei death has the potential to make things worse, even if it was a natural thing.

i think it would actually have a lot more of an effect if things went back to normal first and the characters got lulled into a false sense of security again and then bam. (and personally i would love it if it ended up being velvet and machina or someone else killing them)
