If I'd thought ahead, I would have joined the RP site that lists the games that floats around here pretty often. It's got the games and who's who in the zoo on it and that would make it easy to come up with a list. You know, if I'd thought that far ahead the last time I saw it.

This made me go and look. witchesreign used to have a Cloud I really liked just before they made their DW move but I don't seen anyone from the FFVII cast listed there at all now. Now I wonder if that Cloud made it over here or got lost in the shuffle.

actually, i think the casts around are the same from last time:

biggest one is at onepassingnight, next i think is probably soul_campaign. I know asgardeventide seems to be slowly building up a cast? idk, the rest of them have 1-3 characters if there are any from vii.

I had a fleeting thought about adding onto the Zack population, but I sucked last time I played him. Never felt like I was being social enough.

I'm more surprised Sephiroth beat out Aerith and Cloud. I know he's popular too and some of those are players in multiple games, but still.

I've thought about trying out Zack a time or two, but I just can't get his voice down. Not sure why, I love playing the cheerful characters! I might give him a go someday, who knows. It would be hard to find a balance of having him active and out there doing stuff, I'd need the time to really focus on him since he's the go-getter type anyway.

I've noticed that there are several muns that are repeated on that list. Like, there's 5 Yuffies in games right now, but I think three of those are actually one mun. Not that it's a bad thing or anything! Just makes the numbers a little skewed.

since it's been brought up and I know that I've worried about it before myself writing her - what makes a good Tifa? I know we had a discussion a while back about keeping Cloud interesting so how about the same thing for Tifa writers? How can one of her writers make her enjoyable and interesting to play with?

Wow, did we talk ourselves out last night? I'm surprised no one has responded yet.

I'm not really a Tifa player so I don't want to get too far into things and say something that's not actually true for her. But I think that since, while she's not a quiet character, she is reserved about her actual feelings, playing around with a sprinkling of brackets to explore her feelings when something deeper's going on is good.

People talk about her being normal compared to the others but normal really doesn't mean boring. There's a reason many like some slice-of-life in their rp and it's nice to have a grounding element to some of her drama llama castmates. I think most of making her interesting is making sure you keep her strength and her voice in conversations. She's shy with inner, vulnerable feelings. On the outside she's social, gracious, polite but confident and has pretty much had quiet (and less quiet) adoration wherever she went throughout her life because of it. It's weird when Tifa's voice sounds really uncertain or even wishy-washy and I can't figure out any emotional reason for it.

If you're in a game, making her interesting can be keeping her busy with things to do. She's pretty likely to want to help the community and that can keep her busy with figuring out what people need/what she wants to do/what she can wrangle people into helping with and that'll give her new things to do and talk about. And new people to talk to.

I'll also add that as a canonmate, I love the way Tifa loves. I'm not sure I can explain how much I enjoy the depth I can get from even simple interactions with a well done Tifa when that warmth is there. Seeing her played guarded or closed off is so sad to me. I love reading the quiet way she's so strong (and sometimes fierce) in the way she loves the people she cares about. It's wonderful to be able to work off of.
