This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Double Sided Sex Game?

I was toying with the idea of the usual jamjar setting with people getting yanked into a fantasy world from their worlds, only letting appers decide which side of the war they get yanked into. One will have the coerced sex option, the other will have the 'you're free to do what you please but we do need people to have sex in order to enhance our powers to resist those coerced guys so if you can make that happen that would be greeeeeeeeeeat' option.

Coerced side: has the wristbands/collars that either kill or inject heavy aphros if they're not providing sex either to the soldiers to give them powers, or being soldiers themselves. The side where the terrible stuff happens. Led by a warlord, wants to conquer the other side and enslave them.

Freedom side: Can go SoL and offer incentives for those who fight back against the invaders, but they basically get to decide who they want and how often, or even just not at all if there isn't anyone around to catch their interest but they still want to participate.

I dunno, maybe toss in a few roaming tentacle monsters that people can NPC too to suit their kinky needs. Why not.

if there's enough interest, i just. might. do it. especially since only a small handful of my characters are promiscuous enough to not care. if they're having sex with other people for a good cause, i could probably swing it and not be horribly OOC.

plus i have a soft spot for npc sex monsters. i guess people could app those too, why not.

I think you should make this. DWRP needs a new game with at least some forced sex aspect. When some people are pushy enough to try to make every proposed sex game into something like this, it definitely means there's demand.

A word of advice: have ironclad rules to deal with both kinkshaming and kinkpushing. The recent conflicts and antagonistic discussions that have cropped up in the anoncomms around dubcon and noncon could come up oocly in a game with two different facets like that. Some of your players might be into both forced sex and consent, but you'll possibly be combining some players that are exclusively into one or the other, where they have different priorities and comfort levels.

You'll have to be prepared for either side being babes of the tit and either ignoring people's boundaries or shaming people for kinks they don't even need to deal with. It's a good concept and it could work out just fine, but having it split like that means you'll have some hazards to look out for that other sex games don't have because they only go with one or other. Make sure your rules are rock solid ahead of time to handle the potential clash.

That's really good advice, thank you! And you're right, I have been seeing a lot of that going around lately. Maybe I could have some sort of icon indicator in the Taken Characters list to show which factions people are willing to play with at a glance, along with links to preference/kink lists, to complement rules meant to discourage kinkshaming and kinkpushing.

Unfortunately, both sides have been bad about it lately. Alongside the rules, making the factions clear and kink lists that are easy for the players to find sounds like a good idea.

Good luck! It's a good concept and I think it could have some lasting power as a game. I'm already maxed out myself on how many games I can handle but this is definitely a game I'd play in the minute I was free to app someone new.

Who knows? You might have a free spot ready by the time I'm finished writing up all the info and coding it to look pretty. (It's the coding that's going to be a nightmare, I only know very basic HTML.) But I appreciate the honest support and advice, and hope to see you there someday!

You might consider having a comm for the non/dubcon faction and a comm for the fluffy smut faction, too? Probably not that much more difficult to handle than having a comm for logs and a comm for networks, and it might clean up who throws a fit (I'm imagining the fluff-smutters) about kinks they don't want to read about (see every single non-con thread). For everyone in between they can just keep both communities added to their reading list and browse through as they wish, esp seeing as how the two sides probably will not meet that often except for on the battlefield.

That is a VERY good idea. Makes sense ICly too, because of course they wouldn't have access to each other's private networks/mail system. Might lead to some good faction building too since, ideally, it'd be nice to give people the option of striking their own balance between how much plot and smut they want. Thank you, I'll definitely implement that!

I'd love to know how you plan on having the two factions interact eventually, having them more or less cut off from one another.

You could use NPC clashes as methods for characters to defect from one side to the other (aka 'Jones signed up for a battle that happened in the background and pretended to be a soldier from the other side once his side was nearly wiped out'.)

I don't know if having actual in game clashes would be wise, unless all parties participating are well aware of the consequences of being taken prisoner and brought back though, you know?

There will be plenty of battle skirmishes, raids, rescue attempts, etc. for opposing factions to meet and interact. They might also stumble upon each other while roaming around the countryside. Only the comm channel will be kept separate, the logs community will be shared by both.

But yes, there has to be OOC permission for battle consequences, no one will have to play out something they don't want. (Working on the FAQ right now.)

I might put up a sort of 'neutral ground' between the two factions, so either side can have CR without having to fight each other immediately.

So it looks like we're going to be making this game after all, thanks to everyone who showed interest and offered up some great ideas for helping it to run more smoothly. We thought of an idea to be put into place and wanted to get an idea for how it might be received.

With the goal of minimizing wank and maximizing each player's comfort, which of these options seem like good ideas? Which one do you think would work best?

Original Plan: Player contact info will not be listed on the main site. It will be required for screened applications, so the mods know who's playing who, but it's up to the players whether or not they want to list their Plurk and/or online handles on their character info. So in essence, listing names and contact info is optional after an application is accepted.
Pros: Less chance of being singled out for kink-shaming, encourages private conversations through PMs (which can document proof of harassment or kinkpushing if it happens), less chance of cliques
Cons: People may not like not knowing who a player is, people may assume that those who don't list their contact info are wankers/creepers.
Exception: If a player tells the mod that they straight up do not want to play with the player of a character they had issues with, the mod will then private tell them which other characters they will want to avoid under the condition that the player keep the information private.

Alt Plan A: List contact info as normal.

Alt Plan B: Assign themed handle names so people can determine which characters belong to a player (who still retains semi-anonymous rights) for more scrutiny.

Thoughts? Again, the goal is to minimize wank while allowing players to feel the most comfortable. We thought this would make it easier for players to express their kinks this way without feeling criticized or judged, especially as kinks change from character to character. We don't doubt wank will eventually happen (it's the nature of the beast, especially with sex games), but it's better if it's contained toward the game itself instead of name dropping.
