Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

the leave movement was fronted by ukip. a studied glance at ukip's policies and positions aligns them, politically, with nationalism and fascism. and several of their members have made publicly racist remarks and have taken a race fueled rhetoric against immigration.

that's not a left or right take. that's just facts.

so everyone who voted leave is now a ukip member? some anons seem to think so

tbh brit friends i know say the remain groups are just as guilty of fearmongering, and the way people here act like the uk's instantly become nazi germany makes me think they may be right

what's really sad is that everyone seems to agree the eu is messed up, they just disagree on what to do about it

of course not everyone who voted leave is ukip, you nana. but they voted on the strength of lies and now those lies are coming out. there will be no extra money because the economy is fucked like the remain campaign said it would be (written off as "project fear" by leave groupies). there will be no reduction in free movement because we'll never get single market access without it. leave campaign leaders have gone back on every single thing people thought they were voting for except for some wishy washy bullshit about "control" and "sovereignty", and if you think the way the uk breaking up and being left as a shitty reject country with fuck all economy is "control" i've got a fucking bridge in san francisco to sell you.

and racism *was* a huge factor in how people voted, like it or not. people were most worried about immigration in the places with the least immigration, this is documented. the spike in racist abuse and attacks after the vote is massive, and if you voted leave, you voted with those people and you have to take the rap for making the country somewhere they think *everyone agrees with them*.

britain is not a good place to be a person of colour or with a foreign accent right now and that is shocking and sad and tbh something i think i will never get over if i live to be 100, that we could become this.

when your friends tell you remain is fearmongering, ask them exactly what they mean. because from where i'm sitting, everything remain said would happen is happening, and everything leave said would happen has mysteriously dematerialised. a bit like pretty much every political "leader" in britain.

ask them about boris's telegraph column where he said the pound was stable when it's at its lowest level in 30 years and still dropping.

anon it's been literal days. there's absolutely no point in arguing about the outcome of the referendum until at least months have passed, if not years.

unconvinced since days have been long enough to lose our triple a credit rating that people died over under austerity, economy wounded, funding withdrawn, research withdrawn, business withdrawn. kill this idea that we can't tell what is happening yet dead, we can and if you can't you need to look harder.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-27 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
people died because the credit rating took a hit?

(Anonymous) 2016-06-27 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
pretty much yeah. disabled people have been dying for years because of cuts to benefits under austerity. we were told our triple a rating was super important, getting the deficit down was super important, disabled people were a price worth paying, and these people are dead.

and now the economy is shot to hell on a whim and the rating is gone.

here's the guardian on the numbers dying after being found "fit for work" https://www.theguardian.com/society/2015/aug/27/thousands-died-after-fit-for-work-assessment-dwp-figures
