Rundown:

rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

One of the reasons I don't bother with memes any more is because I'd rather have a prompt to respond to rather than a blank post with only an icon and username. Not knowing much about the character necessitates wiki-reading, then poking around the character's journal to see if anything's in there to showcase the player's writing skills, and then writing a starter if the above steps prove interesting.

I suppose it's a good way to prevent more cross-canon threads, but that seems counter-intuitive to the open-ended format of memes. I'm not sure where posting a blank starter began, but it's pretty backwards from normal RP experiences outside of DWRP memes.

it's less awkward to scroll through a bunch of blank toplevels and find someone interesting you might want to play with than to post prompts and get several otherwise blank "do you want to play with me?" responses where you have to actually tell them yes or no.

That is equally shitty etiquette as wandering into a blank post to ask for a starter. Shame on the people who do that.

My basic beef with the current meme structure (and I mean blank starters) is that it has encouraged so much laziness and uncertainty on both sides over the last few years that the spontaneity is sucked out of it. We're all too old for that shit: everyone's gotten so many flakes and weirdos and near misses that they refuse to put the effort in, but off the cuff effort was what helped distinguish meme threads from game ones.

Probably just too salty and as other anon mentioned, so anal you could barely fit a lemon seed up there let alone a whole citrus delight. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I have probs with the system, man.

you are way too anal for this hobby if you think it takes all of that to get a decent meme thread out of a stranger or a character you don't know about.

Too anal for memes, which is ironic given the amount of smut prompts there are out there. Anyways, I'm finding a much better time in games where there are top levels to respond to and regular CR to build, so in that case at least you know I won't be rubbing you the wrong way if you know what I mean.
