This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.

also, this didn't happen today but it was within the last few days, started two new threads with my writing partner that are mirror aus of each other. it's kind of hard jumping between aus and different mindsets to write in each, but it's also a lot of fun

I miss scary bosses, for the thrill of victory and the actual feeling of risk.

To put an example, I remember Donkey Kong Country 2. Those boss fights scared me a lot when I was a kid (the ghost of a gigantic crow you killed earlier, a demon sword from hell, a nigh-invincible and gigantic bee-wasp that pursues you to terrifying music the previous level), and yet it always felt so triumphant when I finally got to beat any of them, I felt I was actually in an adventure.

Either I have grown up too much, or most games struggle to make bosses that can actually scare you and be actually difficult to fight, so you do feel accomplishment when you win.

Super Robot Wars in English ayyyyyyyy

The market is completely different now than in the 90s though. This is a generation raised on Crunchyroll. People have gotten used to the idea of subtitles, and worse/better, they've gotten a taste for seiyuu culture. And Persona 5, in particular, with one of those most stacked voice actor casts in any video game ever? People being buttmad is totally expected.

Late to the party, but one of the best pieces of advice I ever got is to use something from all the senses. Every few lines, switch senses and throw in some little detail about what your character is experiencing. The texture of the blankets, the smell of soap or cologne, little stuff like that.

This goes for any writing, not just smut, but it definitely makes smut sexier imo

Someone on a meme I tagged told me they were going to be late to reply because they were away and had unreliable Wi-Fi. I told them not to worry and to get back to be whenever they had a chance. It'd been a while, so I figured they weren't feeling it anymore. No big, it happens, just part of meme culture. But they actually tagged back, so that was really cool of them.

i also think a lot of games struggle to balance making a boss difficult enough that it feels like a real triumph when you beat them, without making them so difficult that they stop being fun
