Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.

Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

SOCIUS - High Fantasy Dungeon Diving Sex Game

(Anonymous) 2016-05-06 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
(Oh my god I've just realised this should have been called 'sex dungeons and dragons' from the start)

Bullet point summary:

Premise:
- Your character becomes a dungeon-diving adventurer with an MMO-style class.
- To access their magic powers, special skills and whatnot they have to do the nasty to form a partnership with another character.
- As of now, there is no overarching plot, but more areas and features will be unlocked as players progress through the various dungeons.

AC Requirements:
- AC will be on a points system. You will earn points when your character does different in-game actions. More on this [here] (http://rpanons.dreamwidth.org/65769.html?thread=204868329#cmt204868329).
- You can also earn points for having long threads.
- Points can be spent ICly for rewards, including new skills, items, and things that more directly affect the game world.
- Failing AC will result in a series of IC restrictions designed to force your character to interact with others.
- Failing AC more than once in a 3 month period will result in your character being idled out.
- You can re-apply for that same character provided that nobody else has applied for them while you were MIA.

Partnership:
- Partnering with someone means having some kind of smut CR with them. This can be faded to black if players prefer.
- A partnership will last for one month, after which your character will lose access to their powers and must either renew their partnership or start a new one.
- You can have more than one partner. This means that if there is an odd number of players, nobody will miss out, and also means that we can get some juicy IC drama going.
- When you partner with someone, you get access to a special skill created by combining the aspects of your classes. These powers range from 'super useful' to 'hilarious'.

Classes:
- A tentative and very in-progress list of classes can be found [here] (http://rpanons.dreamwidth.org/65769.html?thread=204869353#cmt204869353).
- Classes can be upgraded with new skills.
- Non-combat classes will be available as optional secondary classes. You will never be able to get rid of your main combat class (Events notwithstanding), but non-combat classes can be changed.
- If your character had no combat skills before hand, they will be magically imbued with the abilities associated with their new class.
- If your character DID have combat skills, or even magic powers, they will be allowed to keep them, or possibly to buy them back over time.
- Game breaking powers and physical appearances that would cause serious issues with the setting might still be subject to nerfs and changes. This would be on a case-by-case basis.
- Nobody would have access to any powers until they formed a partnership.
- Please please please go ahead and suggest more classes, or tell me what you think of the existing ones. This is the part of the game I am most unsure about at the moment, but it's also the most fun part and I really want some player input so that nobody ends up ditching the game because the class they wanted isn't available.

Setting:
- The setting is fairly standard fantasy. There are elves, there are dwarves, there are dragons lurking at the far corners of the map.
- The starting town has been isolated from the rest of the kingdom. The characters' first goal will be to forge a path to the capital, where they can hopefully obtain a way to get home. This goal will take around two months both OOCly and ICly.
- The different cities are themed. Primavera, the starting town, is known as 'The Town of Spring Romance'. There are cherry trees in bloom, mountain ranges on the horizon, and a beautiful lake (which will initially be full of monsters).
- I would love some suggestions for other towns and themes. So far I've considered a shadowy town full of rogues and skulduggery, a steampunk-ish dwarven town, and the standard hidden elven grove. And maybe a 2spooky ghost town.
- Later, it will become possible to warp between towns that have already been discovered.

Apps:
- OCs, Minor Characters, and Customisable Protagonists will all be appable.
- Canon characters, AUs, and AUs with in the game's setting will all be appable.
- There can be one canon version of a character and up to two AU versions of a character in the game at any one time. Different versions of customisable characters are also subject to this restriction.
- There will be a small cast limit. Up to five members of the same cast will be allowed. Obviously, OCs and setting AU characters are not subject to this limit, as I would expect such characters to have no ties to the canon cast.

OtherSocius.
- I really need some co-mods. Someone who can use HTML would be awesome, because I straight up can't. Even if you can't code for shit, I still need someone to bounce ideas around with me.

Finally:
People are still interested in this, right? I'm literally only doing this because people seemed into the initial idea and it seemed like a fun project.

What I'm getting at is that none of what I've said so far is written in stone. If there's an aspect of the game that sounds off-putting to you, it's probably putting other potential players off too, so let me know about it and I'll make some changes. I'm not attached to anything at this point - except the name, because I've made a tentative mod journal already.

Suggestions, mod applications, and straight-up expressions of interest can all be sent to [personal profile] sociusmods. Or just comment here, I don't mind.

I'd agree with this assessment. If you're looking for something relaxed and low pressure with a side of interesting activities every so often it's perfect.

Yeah there's definitely an instinctive reason for it but I guess a lot of people are used to social animals like dogs and cats being super dedicated mothers.

I've actually never seen that before so I'm gonna have a look at it. Tbh bunnies are so misunderstood I just love creating any discourse about them.

I'm getting increasingly sure that this person I'm rping with has some kind of kink they may or may not be aware of. Somehow in every thread they find some excuse to get their character's hair or clothes wet. I've lost count of the time their character was just out of the shower, working out and sweating, tripped and fell into water... it's even weirder because I totally get that as a kink, but I don't know how I feel about it just kind of happening in the background all the time. I don't want to call them out because they may just not realize how it's coming off? But, huh. Weird.

Has anything like this ever happened to anyone?

Thank you! I kind of feel that it's a badge of pride now. It's very sad because Peanut is so wonderful with humans but he has a hard time making friends. I'm really invested in seeing a nice end for him.

I feel you on that so much, we don't have hamsters in Australia but I'm starting to research local rat and mouse rescues to help out at. We've had a LOT of sad bunny cases because people buy them for kids and don't want to invest the time.

Thank you so much for the support, it actually means the world to me. I honestly wasn't super interested in rabbits until I started volunteering for my course and realised what kind of shit they go through. The people I've met through it are incredible as well and that makes all the difference. I'm also investing in some sturdy gardening gloves.

Re: Manager in a call center

(Anonymous) 2016-05-06 11:34 am (UTC)(link)
Morale's not as big of an issue at my job as I imagine it to be at other places. For one thing we're an inbound call center, and the company I work for is a major corporation that offers competitive pay and excellent benefits. Employees at all levels get a lot of paid leave and they're very accommodating of personal life issues. Also the company is big on career development and promoting from within, and good performance gets amply rewarded. Honestly the employees who have a morale problem are mostly the ones who treat the job like it's just any entry level, dead end position and put in very little effort.

All that said, I started exactly where they are and it absolutely can be very stressful because you are dealing with customers back to back to back, of course you run into nasty and abusive ones, the pressure to perform well is very high, hours can be long and lousy, etc. As a manager I'm also under a ton of pressure from higher ups and I shield my reps from a lot of it. Sometimes it's hard to remember to balance the feedback on what needs to improve with lots of feedback on what they're doing well. I have a reputation as a manager with high expectations and I worry a lot about being hard on my team. I do a lot of food rewards, give out certificates each month recognizing good performance, try to help my reps with career development and things of that nature to keep up morale.

Bunnies can be such amazing pets but they really do take a lot more time and effort than a lot of people are aware. People like you, not only helping them find forever homes and loving them in the meantime, but also talking to other people about them and helping educate are exactly what bunnies need most. It makes me so happy hearing about it and I hope you get back in spades all the good you're passing out. In bunny AND in people karma.

This actually looks very interesting, but I've already dropped from the game. I wish they put this much effort into the plot much earlier. They could have made this work.

Oh my gosh anon, you made me tear up a little.

I had no idea what I was going to do with my degree when I started but working at the shelter has made me so rambling and passionate about rabbits it's embarrassing. I honestly don't feel like I'm doing all that much but I could talk about small animal welfare for daaaayyyyssss. Shelter work is super enriching and I highly recommend it for everyone.

Just an update on this - my husband and I have discovered we have different goals for this and it's looking unlikely that we'll pursue it. He wanted to spice things up with casual hookups, while I explained that if we were going to look for a third it would be something more consistent/committed. In the end we decided that since we can't agree on what this would consist of, it's better not to look into it at all. We do want to make local friends (we moved here within the last year and I don't work outside the home, so I am pretty lonely sometimes) so we're going to try other avenues for meeting people.

Yep! She's going to show up on 5x04. 5x02 will air next monday, 5x03 will air the day after (because most weeks will have two episodes, CBS should go and fuck itself with something hard and sandpapery), and then 5x04 will air the following monday iirc.

If you don't mind getting spoiled for the upcoming episodes, I suggest going through tumblr for press releases and hints and nudges from people who have actually seen 5x04. I can link you to some of these if you'd like. Again: we're all gonna die.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-06 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Same anon here, bc I can't edit the comment I just made-- she's going to return on 5x04, but I don't know if that means we'll see her before that or not. All I know is Amazing Things Will Happen In That Episode.

(ie, that amazing 2 second glimpse from the extended trailer that broke the fandom.)

I feel kinda stupid.

I've got my notif settings done up so that anyone who replies to my comments, I get an e-mail. But whenever I make a post, I don't get replies when people comment to it. Every time I set it up so that I get replies when people make top-level comments on my posts, I also get a notif whenever someone replies to them and not me.

I don't mind people commenting about in a post I made, but I don't want my inbox filled with thirty comments of people slingshotting posts back and forth between each other in one of my posts. I just want to get a notif when I have a response.

Is there a way to do it? Give me an e-mail when someone makes a top-level but not when a different person responds to it? Because the settings are just kind of weird.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-06 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
is miitomo working okay for other anons?

i couldn't use it at all yesterday because it kept giving me an error when i tried to open it on my iphone.

i namedropped them because they were a well-known example, not because i noticed something happening with them recently.

if you're asking for deets on them, they appeared on kitchen nightmares because they expected gordon ramsey to tell them "you're so great, you don't deserve 'trolls' bothering you!" because they were too thin-skinned to deal with criticism because of their shitty behavior, bad food, etc. anyboy who was negative towards them was a hater/troll in their eyes and they're precious victims who don't deserve the "hate"!

Re: costume designer

(Anonymous) 2016-05-06 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
the coolest one i've done, and this mostly had to do with the director's vision, was a costume for Lady MacBeth where her black dress gave her the sillouhette of this ghastly wailing figure while she was trying to wash blood off of her hands. i love working with flowy fabrics for special effects on stage.

i mostly get stuck with period pieces because a lot of plays are set back in time for our particular company but i really enjoy making fifties style dresses. even on our bigger actressses the shape of the clothes always flatters them well and there is nothing like seeing a costume give someone confidence to get into character! those are the days i don't mind working long hellish hours in the costume shop. but i'm in a position where i don't just design so it's a process.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-06 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, it was working for me. i have android though.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-06 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
as far as I can figure, you'd have to deselect getting notifs when anyone responds to your entry in a community, because if that's how you're doing it it doesn't specify top level and will grab lower level comments.

Then every time you create an entry, you'd have to manually click the bell for tracking, choose 'more options', deselect getting notifs for when anyone responds to that entry (because it seems to automatically select that every single time you click the bell to start with), and choose the option where you only want a notif for a new top-level. To get it by e-mail may be a paid account option only, I'm not sure. But it should work otherwise. I've never needed to turn off notifs for comments in my own entries, I don't get that much threadhopping, but it works when I want notifications for new threads in an event log.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-06 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll give it a try. Thanks.
