You sound fat

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

I feel kinda stupid.

I've got my notif settings done up so that anyone who replies to my comments, I get an e-mail. But whenever I make a post, I don't get replies when people comment to it. Every time I set it up so that I get replies when people make top-level comments on my posts, I also get a notif whenever someone replies to them and not me.

I don't mind people commenting about in a post I made, but I don't want my inbox filled with thirty comments of people slingshotting posts back and forth between each other in one of my posts. I just want to get a notif when I have a response.

Is there a way to do it? Give me an e-mail when someone makes a top-level but not when a different person responds to it? Because the settings are just kind of weird.

as far as I can figure, you'd have to deselect getting notifs when anyone responds to your entry in a community, because if that's how you're doing it it doesn't specify top level and will grab lower level comments.

Then every time you create an entry, you'd have to manually click the bell for tracking, choose 'more options', deselect getting notifs for when anyone responds to that entry (because it seems to automatically select that every single time you click the bell to start with), and choose the option where you only want a notif for a new top-level. To get it by e-mail may be a paid account option only, I'm not sure. But it should work otherwise. I've never needed to turn off notifs for comments in my own entries, I don't get that much threadhopping, but it works when I want notifications for new threads in an event log.

I'll give it a try. Thanks.

Not sure i get your issue, but when you make an entry, there's an option that reads "Comments". It says "Journal Default". click on it, go to "don't email".

This will make it so the only notifis you will get will be comments on your own comments within that entries. You won't receive a notify via email for every top-level you get, but once you tag the people who tagged your post, you will get notify of their comments (but not other people's threads)
