Hi anons! I have a question! So I want to play a character from an old favorite tv show of mine but I hate how childish he was shown when there was a lot of potential to his appearance. The show in general was like this and I'd rather play this character on his more serious side rather than him be goofy and stupid all the time. If I did this, would it be considered to be out of character? I don't want to go messing things up because i'm spotty.

honestly this is kind of an unpopular opinion of mine but personally i wish dwrp was more lenient for things like that. people don't play characters based on their potential or the player's own interpretations anymore because headcanon seems to be considered more and more "ooc" nowadays. but

i think if you can write an app and back up your interpretation with canon examples, then you can play him as seriously as you want. just be prepared for people to hit up your HMD if they don't agree.

I've been getting nostalgic recently anons. Tell me about your now long gone roleplay pleasures.

My favorite time in roleplay was when I was in a game with an villainous character that was all about having fun for the sake of it. He picked up a best friend with similar interests and the two were utterly evil but also true friends. They formed a big posse of villains that they bankrolled and hooked up to do favors for one another, just to watch the world burn. It was a lot of fun.

i used to ship a lot - a lot - and then my character found an unlikely best purely platonic best friend and it was really fantastic, one of my most fun rp stints. they terrorized people together and were generally just really horrible and dramatic and i loved the both of them.

I don't cut myself but I do pull out my hair and tear little pieces of my skin off. For some reason it calms me and though it hurts it brings me some kind of relief from stress or strong negative emotions or boredom

I have a Dell and every time I plug something in, the software makes me choose where I want the audio to come from. It's annoying and I'm sure there's a setting that automatically switches it from speakers to headphones, but I'm lazy as hell.

why is gamergate still a thing.

All they seem to talk about is anyone in the industry who talk about social representation in games as the only sign of corruption rather than go after actual scummy stuff like day 1 DLC or whatever.

Why does it always come back to attacking anita/brianna/zoe/anyone who says a thing they don't like hearing or being a part of the medium?

by saying that all journalism has to focus purely on game mechanics and never bring politics or social issues is kind of limiting the games meduim. it makes the assumption that games are apolitical and don't evoke social issues to begin with, that it should all be judged on whether a game is broke or not or if it's "fun"

I also don't get why a feminist or some other womon or marginalized group calling out the more malicious part of games or gamer culture out for the problems it faces as trying to "erase the core demographic" or being "hateful"
