is there a tactful way to tell a close family member that they're having a negative impact on your mental health cuz idk what to do at this point

all i want is for them to be more mindful of how they deal with me because they're one of those people who has the habit of taking it out on other people when they're stressed or angry or whatever and i need to avoid stress as much as possible because i'm bipolar and stress is an episode trigger for me

things have been worse lately because they're really stressed out and it's starting to make me feel slightly depressive when i've been fantastic since i started my current med combo and it's starting to concern me

i'm so close to being able to take care of myself after being completely unable to function because of my mental illness i need them to not do this but i feel like i can't say anything without them taking it personally and getting hurt

So my RP partner has a crazy possessive bitch for a SO. I love playing with her, but everytime we play something that could be shipped, I'm not allowed to talk about it, because said SO will get mad jealous. Not because they wants to play those characters, but because they doesn't want anyone else getting a ship. They doesn't even like the ships we're playing, they just hate other people doing fun things when they aren't involved.

I'm so tired of not being able to talk about the things I play or the characters I play without fucking drama. I wish there was an easy way around it, but I really don't see one outside of not playing with this person, which sucks, because I like I said, I love playing with them.

As a vegan I will say when I made the transition I was astounded at how many people suddenly became obsessed with what I ate. My obscenely unhealthy boss told everyone I was bulimic bc I lost 25 lbs between becoming a vegan and taking up running. That still makes me livid. Just bc I made healthy choices for myself and saw benefits does not mean I have a fucking eating disorder. But god forbid anyone be straight up healthy.

fellow anons, what's your opinion on playing the same character at more than one game? i already play this character as a lone canon warrior in one game and there's a game with applications opening up soon that i'm really interested that has one of his castmates. the tv show he's from is relatively popular (not superwhowhatever levels of popular on dwrp, but like on the next tier or whatever) and i don't want to deny someone else the chance to play him. should i just wait and see if anyone else is interested and app if not? or would trying for him at a second game be cool?

there's a character i've been thinking about cosplaying for a long time now because i like him enough, he's close to my age, and he looks like me (three really uncommon things in characters i contemplate cosplaying) but i have two thoughts holding me back, so i wanted to ask if i should listen to these thoughts or cosplay him anyway:

1) his role in canon is a really spoilerific one; he's a big bad disguised as an ally. i don't want the people around me explaining my character to their canonblind friends only to spoil the shit out of the game for them

2) his fans are... insanely skeevy. i'm pretty sure this aspect of the fandom has died off to a reasonable extent, i'm still a little nervous about the fandom. don't care if people think badly of me for choosing the character, though, just because his fans have a bad rep.

Go for it. You're certainly not responsible for other people getting spoiled or not. They could ask for backstory on any character and get spoilers. That's an issue with their friends or their personal research. Not you.

As for the other thing, you're not responsible for his fans, either. Be sure to take measures to keep yourself safe where you can, but if you run into trouble with someone at a con, report them to someone in charge. Do what makes you happy, anon!

over the last few months i tried different games with different characters. the games were all considered friendly and easy to get involved in, but i couldn't find my footing in any of them. hardly anyone tagged my top levels, when i tagged out a lot of people dropped our threads and i couldn't make substaintial cr so i ended up dropping.

the one thing in common is me, so i'm probably boring/shitty/idk. however i never got crit.

what do i do in this case, anons? general tips to improve? i'm sick of never finding myself in games, it's like everyone is having fun except me.

I guess anytime I see this happen to someone most of the time they just don't tag out enough. you're going to get dropped threads at first but you need to keep reminding the game your character exists. a lot of people are probably canonblind to the character you play and will probably never actively make an effort to love the canon/character as much as you do unless you give them reason.

I've found plurk to be a help, honestly. some people say they get tons of tags without it and good for them, but if you're struggling throwing yourself around on plurk can help. i don't mean be desperate or expect anything immediate but something as simple dropping yourself in a gamemmate's "hello goodmorning" plurks also reminds them you exist. talk about other characters that interest you and you think would make for good CR! think about directions situations can go in. basically just keep thinking of "if I do this, this could happen, or this might play out differently. what if this happened this way instead? let's tag and find out."

it's possible you could be doing better on engaging the setting, or engaging your character with the setting, or engaging your character with other characters. take the time to read through the premises and game info pages. look for something that catches your eye and would be relevant to your character and go from there.

people also subconsciously pick up on your passion levels, I think. if you're feeling immediately discouraged like you're not having fun, people might not want to bounce off that, you know? this is sort of "fake it until you make it" advice, I suppose. pretend to be REALLY EXCITED ABOUT RP and excited about YOUR CR and this GAME EVENT and oh man oh man it looks so fun who wants to do fun things with me, etc. enthusiasm be contagious and then you'll start to feel actually excited when other people want to come in and have fun with this fun person who sounds fun and welcoming.

it's a little hard to give anything more than vague advice without more specific details, but I hoped that helped a little.
