I actually only ended up reading about it on a whim one day because I'd had a coworker from Liberia and was like "huh I wonder what Liberia is like I've never heard much about it"

cue my being intensely surprised by what I learned since damn I did not expect such an interesting tale, esp with regard to closeness with the US
