Can someone explain to me why everyone seems to jizz over Enjolras/Venus. Also, (apparently) obligatory, Hawkeye.

I see mentions of those two things everywhere, and I don't get it. Not in a 'wtf is wrong with them' way, but I legitimately don't understand why they're so frequently mentioned and everyone freaks out over it each time.

They have friends who go anon a lot?

Not only here, but I see plurks about new happenings in the relationship between Venus and Enjolras, where everyone jumps in and gets excited. And I... just don't get it?

Maybe there's some build-up I'm missing, but Enjolras has always been about as romantic as a bag of potatoes to me. Didn't he disapprove of Marius for swooning over Cosette, and isn't he like frequently described as being chaste in the novels?

It's been building up for about a year OOC, and ICly Enjolras isn't even in the ship yet, they're only just realizing that they want to be together. YMMV but the trajectory was that Enjolras started chaste and completely disinterested in romance and that their friendship, over many months, turned into love.

It's popular because it's two active characters, the players are clearly having a lot of fun with it, and one of the characters is a mod character with a ton of CR.

as far as i know, there's been months and months of build up and neither of the characters has actually done anything physical? i could be mistaken, but i thought it was more ship teasing than anything else.

and he is as romantic as a sack of potatoes, which has been pointed out in a few places (venus's post back in january or december comes to mind, along with some of the logs with marius).

it's literally against canon for enjolras to be in a relationship, especially with a woman

I know that they're already well aware that this argument against their characterization exists. In fact, they've said before they think it's funny that they're playing him OOC in this regard because they think it's sticking it to tumblr SJWs who are always crying "queer erasure".

I can't be taken seriously in that kind of environment, so there's really no point in trying.

I like how you ignore that the reasons that, at least Lisa, tends to get frustrated with Tumblr SJWs is because they appropriate real life issues that she spends all day actually working over (like queer rights) to push their fandom agendas, often pushing over into the territory of bullying.

the point of enjolras being chaste is not that he's asexual. it's that he thinks everything else is more important than sex. hugo does this with his other characters. valjean, javert, marius before cosette were all virgins.

but he is compared to gay figures not in relation to grantaire: antinous, harmodius and aristogeiton. these are all figures whose homosexual relationships were prominent in their stories or lives.
