Unfunny wanky stereotypes

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

I do think we're going to just have to agree to disagree. I read the whole quote, I just do not think it is as iron clad as you do. you are correct, victory hugo never wrote "and if you end up in an alternate universe in the far future, maybe then you'll want some hot lovin"

I don't think, based on just the text, that these developments are inherently OOC. If he was ignoring the rebellion for romance, maybe, yeah. but in game, the romance has been extremely down played in comparison to his rebellious activity. it does get played up more on plurk, but...plurk.

Personally, I think even if Enjolras were to want some hot lovin', I'm not sure why it would be with Venus of all people. They're very... different characters, and I don't understand why he would condone or admire her when she doesn't hesitate to kill in the Arena, and plays up the Capitol angle.

From what I understand of Les Mis, it seems more like he'd disapprove?? I mean, I get that the muns are like bffls but as far as the characters go, I dunno, I'm not convinced.

the cr came first, iirc. the friendship has been a fairly recent thing.

but that makes more sense to me that the OPs argument. I would bring it up. idk if the muns have though it out. I think they have, but it would be worth bringing to light. if they have they can answer, if they haven't, they need to consider that.

it's not that hard to figure out though. i don't follow them that much but from what i've gathered she's a homicidal nutjob but capable of loyalty and his influence is making her get more passionate about justice and doing the right thing for the little guy. p. sure i've seen lisa say on plurk she's working venus towards actually finding something to fight for.

meanwhile at least outside the arena she's more easygoing and knows how to have fun and it seems like she's teaching him to unclench.

so it's dharma and greg. except with more homicide and eating croissants.

You're probably trying to help but what you're doing is coming across as clumsy whiteknighting. The anons who have issues with how these muns are playing should crit them and hopefully they will.

i don't have a beef with people critting in general but critting character chemistry is impossible to detach from personal preference and open to wide interpretation.

if they absolutely can't see at all how that kind of dynamic could develop over months and months of playing that crit's going to be useless. there are some characters that it would be wildly ooc for the characters to have a relationship but i really don't think these two are that crazy. especially in such an emotional pressure cooker of a game and especially when they seem to play it up as being full of conflict. there are just as many ways to justify it as there are to say it's ooc.

imo the anons are actually better off sticking with the canon and critting on whether or not enjolras is the type to get involved with people when there's a revolution to be had because that's an argument i can see having basis. i would think his focus would be different and zeroed in on the revolution more.

not trying to whiteknight here guys, but hasn't he been involved with that for months? i know i saw something right before the arena where he was basically giving a recruitment speech.

yes, so expecting him to stay the same in this kind of setting is bizarre. it's fair to have crit on the way he developed though and if they have a good basis for that they should take that to hmd.
