does anybody know where to get the cheapest eye exams without vision insurance or one of those "deals" where the exam is free if you buy two pairs of overpriced glasses? i can get cheap replacement lenses online once i have an updated prescription, but walmart's exam is $49 and that's the cheapest i know of. seems like a lot for such a quick exam that a computer could probably do... :p

You aren't really paying for the 'exam' in situations like that, you're paying to get your prescription.

i hate in shows/cartoons/whatever, when someone gets hit by a sleep dart and when they fall over they land on it. wouldn't the end result of that be horrific? i assume if you went completely limp and fell onto a syringe sticking into you, it'd get jammed up inside wherever it pierced.

i assume that the needle would snap or fall out before it did any major damage, or they wouldn't be used to capture animals. even if they were approved for use on humans, which they aren't, it takes at least a few minutes for the drug to take effect and most people would instinctively pull the needle out. so at worst you're looking at a bit of snapped metal beneath the skin or some minor trauma... nothing horrific.

1. I usually tag between 15-30 other people's posts/logs per character, per month. As well as making a post or log of my own.

2. I think that's alright. Sometimes I have slower months where I only manage to tag out 10 or so threads, but I don't think I'm squatting by any means.

For details, I'm in Haven, which is a pretty big and fairly fast game, especially during intros and events.

This is really embarrassing to admit, even anon, but does anyone have any good tips/tricks/tutorials for braiding your own hair? I'm 23 and feel like this is one life skill I should already know. I can do most braids on other people's hair. But my own, it turns into a lumpy mess when I try.

Oh, and if it helps, my hair is long, thick, and straight.

This is a petty complaint, but I really hate when people tag into a top level comment on anything and don't do anything to make your character notice them. Standing off to the side or just existing isn't really going to be a draw for someone, especially if there's other people likely standing around doing things too.

Do something. Anything. Trip. Drop something. Bump into them. Cause an interaction or a reason to interact.

This is a pain in the ass in memes, but it's worse in games. Like, why are you tagging in if you don't have anything to say/do?

how many threads with the same person is too many?

i have 5-10 threads with a partner of mine which is an usually high number for me to have with a single person. thing is, all of the threads are with different characters and scenarios and we have a decent track record of replying to all the threads at least once a day.

we're not exactly friends so i don't want to seem too pushy but we just keep naturally amassing threads.

that's kind of up to you guys. I've had about 3-5 with the same person/characters before and we were happy with them. if you guys are doing different character mixes, there's certainly no reason why you should limit yourselves. you're both having fun, and that's really what matters, right? even if it was all with the same two characters, who cares?

How much does comment count of a particular journal reflect your opinion of said journal/player?

A lot of people have said that they assume people with 'pretentious' journal layouts and visual posts are all flakes, but what if they have a comment count in the thousands? Why are we using layouts instead of concrete comment counts (contrasted with journal creation dates of course) to determine if someone actually plays or not?

there is a guy in the latinamerican equivalent of ebay selling tiger and lion cubs (and claiming they are "very friendly", wtf why would anyone even want one? Even with all the proper permits those things grow to be dangerous predators. The only people I can think off are drug dealers, but I don't think they get their exotic pets off the internet.

There are characters in my game that I really want my characters to be friends with. But they tag so slowly there's almost no point. So I don't tag them.

And then I feel bad thinking like that and tag them anyway, and get trapped in a thread that takes months and months to get to any kind of point.
