Seriously? I've never seen her display a ~huge ego~ about how she plays him. I'm getting really sick of all the wank directed at her - she's really nice oocly, is very open to crit, and she doesn't deserve this.

I always have fun playing with her and she's super nice ooc. Her Eridan is one of several I've played with and all of them are quality. I hate seeing this shit crop up every time a new thread gets posted.

Today's episode: What not to do when you disagree with a person's characterization!

Sally is browsing her game's f-list (or this might not even be her game, which makes it doubly as creepy) when she chances upon Someone's character who they incredibly disagree with! What should Sally do?

Option A: Sally clicks the character's journal. Oh boy! What is this she found? An HMD? Good God All-mighty, I better leave a criticism so the mun could properly assess her interpretation and improve upon her RPing!

GOOD WORK, SALLY. YOU SURE DO HAVE AN IDEA OF BASIC COMMON SENSE.

Option B: Sally, for some unfathomable reason, goes to Annoncomm and puts up with all the tedious scrolling and anonymity to basically shit on the character she doesn't like.

OH NO, SALLY. BAD SALLY. DON'T BE AN ASSHAT SALLY. Sally, don't let that mun scour into the depths of the asscracks of annoncomm to find that you disagree with their character!


Mocking aside. It is totally cool to disagree with an interpretation! Really, it is. Calling someone terrible is incredibly rude, but okay, that's easy to shrug off if that's your opinion.

But saying Amanda has an ego?

Give me a link, a screencap, or whatever where Amanda has been nothing but sweet and welcoming and open to crit and I will shut the fuck up.

I find it hilarious that normally she's all over this comm, posting in logged-in threads and otherwise, yet the moment her Eridan is brought up in a least favorites thread or whatever she's nowhere to be seen, and suddenly there are anons who are claiming their fervent support for her. If you would like to give me crit on my Eridan - and please keep in mind that he is far from his canon self, since he's been off canon for a year and that he's faced his death and trolls of the station made him fess up to what he's done - I have my HMD on pariahdom, if you so choose to!

The "horde" impression is really more reinforced by how, if I've been reading threads right, you do at least have three journals for his icons?

Sob, I've been trying rather hard to find out what happened to your Eridan, because -- I have plans to, in the far future, app into this cast, but the dramatic development has made me worry. The way Singularity is set up, with all the thread overlap and other traits compounding organization, make it very difficult to find this stuff out, though. For instance, I tried to track down the log where Terezi and Kanaya Make Him Pay... but I got an introductory Terezi post with a comment by Eridan and some exchanged between some non-Homestuck characters. Aaaalso there's this mention in his CR chart (which I would love to see updated, and months in the future before I apply I would approach you personally probably begging for clarification on relevant points) of an ageup event that changed things between Sollux and him? And AAAAH NOODLE INCIDENT. like the time they pailed did that just happen privately or what

And, well, I do sometimes long to criticize you but I'm not sure how because I never know how much of the drastic divergence is solidly grounded in development. Has he actually been this forced by people to feel sorry? Is his relationship with Sollux really entirely eating his attention to pay half as much attention to other things? It's really hard to phrase this stuff on a HMD when, justified or not, he has been the way he has been for months and months, and it'd be so hard to change now.

I'm not here to crazy white knight, because it's REALLY unnecessary and embarrassing for everyone. I just want to get one thing out of the way and then I'm outta here:

Yeah, I'm her friend. She is a wonderful person OOC. But as a reader of Homestuck, I can't say I understand her version of him. No matter how many things happened.

HOWEVER, I don't think it's very nice to just bring up a player if they're nice and open to critique. I don't mean to sound bias. I guess I just think it's not worth dragging someone's name out in the dirt over roleplaying a character "wrong". I mean, I guess it's a good way to get her other friends mad, but that's their problem.

I'm actually more peeved by the people angrily white knighting, to be honest. I'd say it's perfectly reasonable to have criticism for her Eridan. It should go on her HMD, but that's something different.

Amanda is one of those people who are genuinely nice to the point it's surreal/seems fake when it's not. So that's why I don't see a purpose of this thread.

(Which, I've even noticed there are a few things that I've gotten a bit off and I need to correct, but that doesn't mean that I'm not turned off to criticism after things get straightened out, hell I'm not even turned off to the idea of getting it during the time that I get shit straightened out?? (but I'd rather someone wait 8(;; )) (but I'm just doing that to try to make him a little bit more understand to those who weren't following him completely)

But honestly, whomever you are, thank you. I wish that people didn't do so much to try to help me, as much as I do appreciate it? Because oh my god I love my friend and I love them and appreciate them for getting sort of defensive and trying to help the cause but errrghhh...
