Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

I'd love to see something operate a little how Distant Skies does - where characters discover the means to get to other worlds, as opposed to lulz you're kidnapped and stuck here.

Time operates completely differently in the DR - as shown by the fact that more than one version of a character can show up.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon RP: The nth Attempt

(Anonymous) 2012-09-08 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Picking up from here -
http://rpanons.dreamwidth.org/19273.html?thread=62229065#cmt62229065

Who else might be interested in seeing or would like to see something certain in a PMD game?

If I were to try to do it, the plot idea I had was this: the game would in ways imitate the series and take place in a new setting, incorporating Gen V lore and whatnot. In the events leading to the start, a society of Pokemon would have united around Reshiram and Zekrom. However, the state of things was upset with the crash-landing and subsequent squatting of Kyurem. Bitter disagreement between Reshiram and Zekrom on how to deal with such a powerful but poorly-understood threat spurred them to split their "kingdom" into two - Reshiram's White Kingdom, devoting its energy to defending itself and wherever necessary adapting to Kyurem's presence; and Zekrom's Black Kingdom, aiming to confront Kyurem.

The plot would encourage players/characters to join the kingdoms' "armies" - I wasn't sure what to call them but was leaning towards "crusaders" as a word a whimsical adventure game might use - and as they move up the system bring the Kyurem problem to a solution and reunite the kingdoms. There would be work helping the kingdom recover later, as well as plots afterward involving legendary Pokemon and what have you - and if it was a jamjar, getting around to solving the how-did-we-get-here-and-can-we-go-home mystery.

I was thinking memory loss jamjar in keeping with the games, with the ability to regain memories later on, but the anon who responded on the last post suggested an OC-based game.

Any thoughts?

Re: The Mary Sue / Marty Stu game

I think this would work better as a dressing room than an actual RPG, but I did this briefly with some friends and we had a great laugh at how awful they were.

The icing on the cake was the fact that our storyline itself was semi-serious and we attracted a few genuine Sues (they hadn't seen our ridiculous character applications before apping and there was nothing in the rules that invited Mary Sues). Because everyone was a Sue or a Stu, though, we all had fun while it lasted. What was absolutely hilarious was the fact that one of the unintentional Sues managed to be more of a trainwreck than our deliberate Sues/Stus.

Sims-based game?

(Anonymous) 2012-09-10 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
In which Malcolm Landgraab is being sadistic and kicking the residents of (insert town here) out of their homes, and people are being pulled in from different universes to try to earn enough money to buy up the neighborhood and kick him out. Everyone is given a little green plumbbob that floats above their heads at all times and changes color with their moods.

Aside from your run-of-the-mill monthly events, there would also be opt-in "challenges" that players could take based on sadistic actions by players in the original games. (Such as walling people in, alien abductions, planting hedge mazes all around their house, etc.)

are you actually any good at RPing?
do you want to have a DR that is for fast taggers because you're tired of waiting two weeks for a tag, no matter how good it is?

no apps, just put up an open post whenever you want to RP. you can develop your own storylines and universes and shit. people who are slow taggers should know that they're slow at tagging and need not join.

An Eternal Darkness-based RP?

(Anonymous) 2012-09-11 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
A long time ago, I toyed with the idea of an Eternal Darkness-themed jamjar game in which characters would be drafted (and brainwashed, for all but Mantorok) into the service of the respective most appropriate Ancients and sent to Ehn'gha for a war between the cults.

While I'm not looking for or set on doing anything right now, if such a game were to be worked on in the future, would anyone be interested in it?

Battle Royale Musebox

(Anonymous) 2012-09-11 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
I'm thinking that a small panfandom AU version of Battle Royale would be very fun! Not like the Hunger Games, but with less suspension of disbelief! I used to play in a forum game that utilized original characters and I think it could be molded to fit with DW!

Every mun would be allowed a certain amount of characters at the start and deaths would either be worked out by planning them out / inactivity / dice roll. Instead of activity checks, you will have two or three weeks to post with your characters and the mods will check in every once in awhile. Something along those lines!

I haven't figured out any specifics but I reaaalllly want to do something like this. Would anyone be interested?

creepypasta game

(Anonymous) 2012-09-11 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it'd be super cool to have an AU, normal town game. No powers. Characters living normal lives.

And then it becomes creepypasta. All of the stuff from all the creepypasta ever. Maybe the characters all find this one cell phone or website address that keeps them connected that comes with some creepy message. Maybe there are random drawings for which character is getting haunted by which creeper this month. The characters that go in section A get stalked by this monster. The characters on this block will be having visits from this other one.

I'd love to see something set up like the seven trials of habit (http://everymanhybrid.wikia.com/wiki/The_Seven_Trials_Of_Habit) going on. Not just a game where something happens once a month, but constant creepy shit is happening. Mods would have to be heavily involved.

I've thought about making it myself, but I don't know if anyone else would be interested.

Memory-Loss Game

(Anonymous) 2012-09-13 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Now in the right spot I hope!

Anemoi has closed, but the concept was pretty cool. I don't believe that there are many other memory-loss games on DW (and if I'm wrong then by all means, direct me towards one). I'd particularly be interested in something with a lot of freedom, isn't "post-apocalyptic" (that's been beaten to death, don't you think? How about displaced by time or something. It sounds cooler), on an island instead of a confined city, and something that includes logs and action posts.

So... would anyone be interested in opening something like this up in the near future? I would if I had time on my hands, but it's impossible right now with my schedule. But hey, if anyone has interest and would be willing to make this happen, I'd be all for this, and would certainly be willing to offer any advice/help, and drag all my friends to join.

Pretty please?

TEAM FORTRESS 2 loosely

(Anonymous) 2012-09-14 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
In their never-ending battle against each other, RED and BLU have started summoning in characters from over the multiverse in order to pitch against each other.

During a few hours of the day, characters are thrown onto one of the battlefields and are given the weapons/abilities of the characters and forced to fight. (Canon powers are wonky and basically nerfed during battle)

After the end, everybody gets sent back to their home base where they can chill out and check the network, and maybe visit the other base. Then their powers come back for some bizarre reason nobody can understand.

ALL DEATHS RESULT IN A RESPAWN. During battle or during off-time. In fact, you don't even need mod permission unless the death(s) are unusual. (You do, however, need player permission)

Whether or not you're RED or BLU is arbitrary and every activity check everybody's randomly assigned one or the other, or one or two characters if the teams become imbalanced.

It would probably start with what the original game had - the six starter maps and default weapons and then gain updates over time. And characters wouldn't know anything about it from the start except that those guys are RED and they're BLU (or vice versa) and you do what the announcer lady tells you to.

DANGAN RONPA GAME

(Anonymous) 2012-09-15 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
So.

A while back, I read the concept of "DANGAN RONPA". English translated as Bullet Rebuttal, the basic concept is that high schoolers with super-level talents (SUPER HIGH-SCHOOL LEVEL _) are brought to the school called Hope's Peak; however, they are brought to a sealed environment and, while they are given the necessities to live normally, they cannot contact the outside world at all. If they want to leave, they must 'graduate' - kill another member of the school and not get caught. In addition, the mascot (Monobear) will constantly try and give the kids motives to kill each other and escape. If someone is not found guilty when they are, everyone but that person is killed.

The idea I had was a sort of edited version because the original is incredibly specialized to the medium.

I was thinking panfandom, but unless I wanted others to be silly, I should chuck panfandom out the window - "Super High-School Level _" designed/tweaked characters would probably be better. I'll probably allow in AUs, too, of fandom characters. Possiblyprobably.

It'd probably be a few-times-a-year 'motive', plus a day of investigation after the murder (lengthened to about a week's time), and then the trial (another week.) The other two weeks would be for slice of life/trying to settle in stuff. The killer would basically be "put character in the ballot" and draw to see who goes axe-crazy.

Punishment (killing of the killer) could be foregone for an ironic near-death assault on them in some fashion, and then throwing them in jail for a month before letting them in - however, I'd also say that you could opt to be killed, and that'd be the law.

Instant re-apping is a thing I'd be cool with - in the wake of a death, applications open. While I don't want the same character (because then there's a sense of impermanency), I'd be fine with an app for a different character.

However, if someone 'escapes' (aka isn't caught), everyone gets a punishment that isn't murder - pretty much a gamewide torture event or something similar.

So wait, let me say again. OC game where one person is killed per event. The killer can either be caught and killed, or escape and hurt everyone else. Permadeath (because nonperma lightens the effects of death), a trial-esque scenario where everyone is sort of stream-of-consciousness talking and trying to find lies in others' testimonies/correct other people.

If anyone has comments/suggestions for how to do panfandom, let me know. I think I'll go OC, otherwise.

Lantern Corps panfandom game

(Anonymous) 2012-09-16 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
This idea's been rolling around in my head lately. I kind of wanna see a panfandom game where every character has a lantern ring- Green, yellow, blue, red, the whole shebang, save for black, white, and possibly orange. The game would be split up between the different factions, utilizing both Corps-specific and game-wide story arcs, where the playerbase would sometimes have to go up against one another in faction missions and plots. Major faction leaders (The Oans, possibly Atrocitus and definitely Larfleeze) would be NPC'd, but beyond that, anyone could app anyone from whatever fandom they'd like.

As for joining up with a Corps, I think it should be part of the app process that they write in what corps they should belong in depending on the emotional spectrum, but in the end, based on a personality section, mods would decide where they end up so as not to create a huge faction imbalance and promote cross-canon CR.

The network would be via the Lantern rings, and since the communication function is a conscious effort to activate it, there'd be little opportunity to accidentally trigger it. The network doesn't support cross-corps communication, so if one wants to contact someone game-wide, they'll need to be creative about it.

Powers would be nerfed to an extent, but players would be able to keep them. I just want a Lantern game, tbh, and was wondering if others would find this interesting, too.

Possible new sex DR?

[personal profile] ladyboneranon 2012-09-17 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Set on R I S A, an apparent pleasure island with any sort of sexual satisfaction your heart might desire. Only this idyllic (and incongruously varied from a permanent spring in the south to a permanent winter in the north) island holds a completely neutral, scientific and research-based secret: It is an experimental facility, designed to study the adaptive sexual behavior of sentient species. (Hence RISA: Reproduction and Intelligent Sexual Adaptation).

RISA is holographic, and illusionary. And sometimes, test subjects are imported into specialized scenarios, in smaller holorooms, to study behavior and response under varying circumstances.

Characters could be experiments or experimenters, or collaborators, or anything in-between. The dressing room would have continuity, which is something people feel is lacking between memes and open posts in TLH at the moment.

Players would be free to post new holorooms (like TLH open posts) as they wish, with no regulation unless it gets out of hand. If it gets out of hand, at the beginning of every week, players can "claim" a day for their open post, allowing seven per week.

Any thoughts? Does this sound like something that might be viable?
