tbf if someone's interested in the premise of a game but doesn't wanna get into the actual gacha game part of it, the most popular ones will have youtube channels that upload the story content for perusal instead

you can actually win fights without spending money for the highest tier operators

and the story is pretty cool

hoyo anything has a massive case of same face syndrome. it's a nightmare to icon

and tbh a "no" would actually be a rare outcome in itself bc most of the time it's just the starter being silently ghosted anyway

the creator behind these shows has been an insufferable asshole since the deviantart days and an awful person who treats her employees like shit so you should be aware of that if it matters to you at all

the anti/proship culture war rules in this fandom. it's suffocating and impossible to ignore

vivziepop is an awful person

and if you want to rp from it it's gonna be a vertical climb uphill in a blizzard. the characters are insufferable to anyone older than late teens/early twenties, so they tend to be pretty insular which only fuels the cycle of getting almost no cross canon cr

remember that they top-leveled because they want tags. in a sea of top levels with no replies, odds are they will be excited to see something in their inbox no matter what. as long as you've done your due diligence re: checking prefs/permissions, everything else is just the meme-standard experience of figuring out if the CR & play styles mesh.

ive been tagged by characters that i initially wasn't very interested in, but i was happy to tag for a bit -- and the thread turned out great, and now i keep an eye out for them on memes in general.

it's helpful to keep in mind that we're all after the same thing here, broadly speaking. also, yeah, therapy

the last bit is ymmv. i've seen them get plenty of bites on tdms and do well enough in games as long as you, the player, aren't weird and insufferable

i don't think i've ever seen a blitzo or whatever his name is that wasn't fucking obnoxious loledgy though so maybe it's character dependent

cr with these characters is largely adversarial because they're edgy assholes because, again, the canon itself

i was addressing "nobody will play with you" which is objectively not a true statement, not your manifesto or whatever. i'm looking at an active tdm right this second where two of them have three and four threads from non canonmates each and they're all decently sized

so yeah, if anon isn't weirdly aggro like this ic or ooc (not that they mentioned wanting to rp, just new fandoms to read fic or look at fanart of) then they should be fine

all i hear about this canon is from my friend who rps from it. they're always complaining about how no one wants to tag their hazbins and got aggy when i suggested playing nicer characters

personally i wouldn't get into its fandom either because it's a can of worms

the worst feeling imo is your tag-in getting skipped over while they reply with everyone else around you lol but even that's nbd after some time passes and the feefees heal. it happens to all kinds of characters and it's not about you.

i wouldn't bother with hazbin/helluva as a fandom either

it has drama every week it seems. and it spills into everything because the creator herself, vivziepop, loves to stir the pot

caveat: unless you're a wanker and it is about you

you don't actually have to spend money to "win" at genshin either. you can just play as your favorites and get through the story quests and open world fine.

but you shouldn't be playing any gacha if you have a gambling addiction so disregard this advice if that is the case for you lol

yeah, it seems like a massive mixed bag. from the tiktok amvs or whatever the fuck they're called these days that my sister has shown me it's 80% assholes and edgy tumblr sexyman ocs but i know the spider hoe and the blonde chick seem to do okay in dwrp circles. there's like one of the blitzo guy who seems to be doing really well in tlv too

sometimes the fandom reddit breaks containment though and i see the kind of discourse that tells me this show's audience is largely school aged, which is a great reason never to interact with it in any way, ever, outside of maybe just reading fics

if it helps, as an outsider i usually judge the person who skipped a tag in more than the person who got skipped tbh. (unless i recognize a wanker situation ofc)

unsure if it's just dwrp but star trek seems to be having a resurgence

I can at least vouch that for Twisted Wonderland, all the story parts are both archived on Youtube in both fan translations and the official EN translations, the EN story is fully available via transcripts on the wiki, there is an in-progress manga that is true to the game story, and there is an anime coming soon. you don't have to, and probably shouldn't if you have gambling problems, do any gacha-ing to consume it.

+1 especially in games. if someone skips over a perfectly ordinary tag from a normal game mate to tag other people who hit their top-level i add them to my list of people not to tag out to. it isn't a crime to prefer certain cr but i won't waste my time trying to get it with anyone who pulls this. it's a sign it would be an uphill slog.

yet the people who do this literally never have trouble getting tags and will never notice.
