Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for fictional character role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.

Personally, I would reach out to the player and politely ask if they are being IC with their response or if they just don't want to have CR with mine - especially if I'm not familiar with their character. Sometimes the cranky, curt ones can be fun to play off of, and sometimes they're just really off-putting.

"curt" may have been the wrong word for me to use. "definitive," maybe?

i felt jarred because they gave the complete opposite answer to other characters. i think it's apparent enough they don't want cr for whatever reason that i'm just going to not pursue the thread or try to interact ic/oocly again. (i'm not owed anything, just feel oddly embarrassed i attempted for cr in the first place — my bad)

thank you for the advice, though! if that ever happens again i'll bring it up.

I obviously don't know what characters/thread you're referring to so I can't really say, but could it not be a case of "I'm more open and honest with person A who i have closer CR with than Person B who is a stranger so I'm not going to give an accurate response to them"? Might not be necessary to completely give up on it, but I could be reading more into the situation than is there too. But yes, for sure bring it up if it happens again (though I hope it doesn't!).

this is impossible to give a ruling on either way without knowing the characters and the context. it could be entirely normal reasons or it could be someone trying to give you a hint about not wanting cr.

personally i would just leave the thread alone and see if they tag you again somewhere else.

oh i feel you on feeling oddly embarrassed about trying for cr. some months ago i tagged into someone's top-level who then proceeded to drop our thread after only 4-5 tags while having hundred comment long threads with everyone else who tagged them in a game event and felt mortified about it. sometimes it just happens though and it's been to just focus on tagging other people who seem more receptive. one person shouldn't get to make or break your day, you know?
