Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for fictional character role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

I've seen a few people put up starters in their TL for random scenario and a couple other memes. I might have to start trying it myself. If nothing else, it shows effort and not just pumping and dumping muses.

Always less "hot or not" "smash or pass" "cute or boot" "woo or boo" and whatever other cutesy named memes that boil down to the question "Do you find my character attractive?" As soon as one crops up, there's always four more around the corner, it's like a PLAGUE.

unpopular opinion, but i'll go ahead and voice it.

i'm not sure what umbrella they'd fall under, but things like: smash or pass, ic wishes, guess who they like, choose my word, heart meter, roast their taste... those kind of meh for me. i can see how they can be fun for people, but i'm the buzzkill player that wants to write more story driven threads instead of those types above.

more things i'd like to see would be more memes that require something in the TL beyond one or two words. which i know we're always saying anyway.

i don't know if it'd actually be a fun idea for anyone, but i think maybe something like:

- an elevator pitch kind of meme? your TL has an 'elevator pitch' for an idea, so like a few lines of the idea you want, people respond? or could be an actual starter. ex: "our characters are the only survivors of a ship wreck. they need to make a shelter to survive and find a way to call for help. there's a storm on the horizon, and they have to find safety fast." or "your character is immune to a virus. my character is a smuggler paid to get your character to people who can use your character to help make a cure or vaccine. they have to cross dangerous territory to get there, and they're being hunted by some group of people."

- similar to the above, i guess, but a reverse starter call? players post starters, other people tag in. i know people would be unhappy about this because you'd essentially be wasting effort if no one tagged you. but it could be similar to the starter call where someone picks a prompt (scary starter, action starter, etc.) and a player'd just pick one and throw a starter out for it. i don't know if anyone would actually want to do this though, i could be the oddball here (i'm sure i am).

i would really love an epistolary meme where people don't just default to texting! i wanna write some letters and notes and communication in the margins of important documents and stuff like that

I really liked Two Truths and a Lie a while back, and I always love regrets and wishes. What makes these work really neatly is that even if I'm canonblind on a character, I have something to latch onto that they might have in common or contrast with one of my muses. Plus they open the door for platonic or shippy interaction.

The Stalled Car Meme! Toplevel character’s car, carriage, spaceship, or bantha convoy has stalled and now they are stuck on the road, calling for help, trying to get their ride going themselves, or just praying someone will come by and be nice enough to give them a lift to where they’re going. Replying characters come by and help.

It might just be me, but the more different things a meme wants me to roll for, the more likely I am to avoid the meme entirely. The D&D meme is asking me to roll for 5 different variables (class, setting, scenario, complication, role)? No, no thank you.

Hell, the version of the vampire meme that wants me to roll to figure out if I'm a vampire or not before I get a scenario to play with is on thin ice.
