rpanons is an anonymous community for fictional character role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Any icons out there for Sakiko Togawa from Ave Mujica?

I just visited the last tfln post on my phone and noticed none of the comments were in courier/serif font. I tried looking at other posts that should be in courier, including this post right here at rpanons, and none of them were showing in courier - they're all showing in the default sans serif font.

I tried it in chrome and they looked fine in chrome. Other people in a discord I'm in say the posts display properly on their iphones and on chrome, but no one there seems to be using the combo of firefox on an android, so idk if it's my phone in particular, firefox, or the combination of the two. Does anyone know if there's a known issue with firefox or android displaying courier font on dw? I'm trying to figure out if I should report this to the support team.

I use Firefox on Android to RP and I just checked and yeah, the font I usually use for texting (courier/monospace) isn’t showing properly. So definitely not just you! Not sure if DW or Firefox, but I assume the latter. I’ll try to poke around.

courier new has never worked on mobile Firefox for Android ime, this isn't a new thing. that's why my font tags specify both courier and monospace, it's for the ppl who browse via FF on android

this has been an issue with firefox on android for a while. it's why i use span/monospace all the time. just add this to dwtools on a browser and save it into notes on your phone and your texts will look good to everyone:

this is why I really wish we got away from using different fonts or whatever for texts

phones nowadays don't display like typewriters so why are we making things so confusing

Anyone have good tutorials for making icons in gimp (or any other free program)? I've been using photoshop for over a decade but I don't use it enough anymore to justify the stupid monthly subscription.

i'm sure this has been asked before, but i wasn't able to track it down - does anyone have any tips for making icons the correct sharpness for dreamwidth? i feel like i recall someone talking about file size or something being relevant to how icons end up looking once uploaded... i'm finding an issue where my icons look good in photoshop, but then i upload them to dreamwidth and they look crunchy; sometimes it's like they don't look as nicely sharp as they did in photoshop (a little blurry maybe), and sometimes it's like they're too sharp (a little pixelated). it's possible my eyes are just messed up from looking at the screen for too long, but i did want to see if anyone had any tips or suggestions they could share...!

Save as png. I also “oversharpen” in PS, but a little goes a long way. Not sure about file size, tho.

Seconding the use of PNG. JPEG will kill quality every time. I tend to use Smart Sharpen at 40-60%; I never use it on full.

i don't go on plurk very often, but i started up again and noticed that the little icon that i know i had hidden (plurk mascot of whatever flavor) is showing up again and it's animated this time. is there any code yet to hide that?
