Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for fictional character role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

it really boils down to people who have been subjected to really shitty cr with bad craus not exactly being thrilled with either craus or players who haven't been through that (or like the challenge) dismissing their valid experiences as petty bitching. when crau ruins an entire canon for you, it's kind of a kick to the balls to have someone come in and be all 'not MY crau'. well, i don't know that, barbera. maybe, maybe not. but some experiences leave such a bad taste in one's mouth, they don't want to extend the courtesy to others to try to change it.

this is very #notallcraus. sure, logistically we know that, but there's enough that have that make it not ridiculous to feel some kind of way about it. jumping in super aggressively doesn't exactly change opinion.

yeah pretty much. I feel like if you swapped "CRAU" with "OC" in that defensive screed they'd feel totally different, nevermind that it's basically the same concept. CRAUs are canon OCs. they're both your specific blorbo.

the only real operable difference is that people are generally more irritated with CRAUs because they'd like to play off the canon character, not the jamjar blorbo version.

+1 this, especially when many games only allow one version of that character overall. meaning if you get saddled with a crau castmate, then you're just not ever gonna get the actual og version of that castmate in the game. unless the player drops or you drop and go elsewhere....feels bad man

i was not trying to be aggro about it myself and am genuinely stunned by these stories. again, none of that has ever happened to me, but yeah ig i would be wary if I had that many examples
