Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for fictional character role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.
Rules:
Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

(Anonymous) 2025-04-08 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)in my experience, people who's initial question is along the lines of "do you want an x? i was looking at prompts 2 or 3, do you have any preferences?" are just doing a vibe-check and/or just looking for high-level initial input from me, and are chill and fine.
the "do you want an x?" people want to play (or feel like they want to play) and have figured out that tagging out gets them more actual play, but don't want to start. i've started shortcutting all the questions by saying effectively, "yes, and i'm looking at prompts 2 or 3, do you have any preferences? i'm happy to start." vast majority of the time, one of two things happen: either a) this is the point i get ghosted, which is fine, because that means the time i've wasted has been minimal, or b) they have no preference, and would love for me to start, at which point i just start.

(Anonymous) 2025-04-08 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)yeah, i think in general the etiquette is that the person who tagged in starts, which may also be why these people are so circumspect about it (and why people are wary of them), because they don't want to say directly that they don't actually want to start. the first kind of person i mentioned (who came to me with ideas initially) will almost always start whether or not i offer to do it.
i don't mind starting in these cases, bc then even if the thread gets dropped at least i got to write something, lmao. but having interacted with a few of these people, i totally get why the anon i replied to (and others) would rather just not bother.
