Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for fictional character role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. To new anons who have come here from Insanejournal, welcome! This comment is a reminder to please read our rules and to serve as an explanation of some of our conventions. rpanons is for discussion of Dreamwidth-based fictional character roleplaying only; players in our particular RP sphere do not play celebrities or (non-fictionalized) real people, and as of this post, we do not allow ads for games or individual PSLs/lines seeking such.

anonnnies seems to be a hub for current and former Insanejournal celeb RP anons here, and fail_fandomanon is a general anon fandom discussion community that has regular threads about RPF, though we cannot personally vouch for the content of either community. If there are any other such communities springing up, we welcome links to them so we can direct anons to where they'd like to go.

If you do play fictional characters and are interested in finding out about the culture here, our General DWRP Questions thread is a great place to start. We also have multiple threads linked at the top of the post you may comment to if you're seeking to join a game or want to offer your characters for one-on-one PSLs/lines. enablemeplz is a meme that goes up on the second Saturday of every month which serves the same purpose, but reaches a much wider audience.

One thing to note is that we have long valued the IC/OOC divide- that is, we recognize that we are not our characters, and that roleplaying something does not mean the player endorses such in real life. Any attempts to start wank along these lines will be frozen or deleted as appropriate.

Modding and DWRP

Since there's been a few dramatic examples of mod burnout recently, I'm wondering about ways that DWRP could pare down what's needed from mods in a way that makes it easier for people to start a game, and keep one going. Not that you can ever completely eliminate flaking or burnout, but it feels like games get into a death spiral of because the mods can't really be flexible without there being an outsized impact on players, with things like TDMs going up or events starting.

What things have current/former mods found the most difficult to maintain and wish could change? For players, what are some modding conventions of DW games that you think could be changed without losing things you like about DWRP?

A small starting example: I think the thing of mods having to edit their reserve/app pages to say Open/Closed is a nice thing to do, but it's not really useful when the schedule for those things opening is usually posted on both pages.

A broader example: how important is it to you that game events happen on a regular schedule, like going up on the 1st of the month?
