Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for fictional character role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Star Trek panfandom game.

Characters arrive via the multiverse rift during a cosmic storm of strange energy, get to crash on Starbase 80, and shenanigans ensue.

Plot opportunities arise in helping with restoration efforts on the starbase, hooking up with various Federation & non-Federation crews for missions, cross-cultural exchanges, planet hopping, soaking in life in a post-scarcity (mostly!)utopia, and ofc, finding out just how to get all these folks back to their homes.

Characters will also face knowing about their journey when they go back home.

Tone would lean more TOS-to-Lower Decks-y, with adventuring, SOL, silliness and some darker stuff, just not like, grimdark angsty overload.

Thoughts?

You should ground the Enterprise for repairs or something. Make it unavaiable as a ship you can be assigned to, but usable as an RP backdrop.

I say this because I was once part of a Star Trek Forum RP and it went to shit over wank regarding who got assigned to the Enterprise.

Either everyone gets assigned to the Enterprise or no one does.

Ignore some of this, I misread. But yeah, if the Enterprise shows up, make it a backdrop but that's it. Enterprise wank is kinda a thing in Star Trek RP.

Game based on The Good Place premise.

Characters arrive and are told they are dead, but congrats, they have arrived in The Good Place! Only... it's secretly the Bad Place. Wacky hijinks ensue, and it's all a means to torture the characters, though they're not supposed to know that.

i've actually wanted one of these forever! i thought it would work best as a smaller game where characters would have to provide a short blurb about why they're in the bad place, their characters' fatal flaws, etc. so that events could be somewhat more tailored toward what the characters in the game are dealing with, but i'm sure it would be fun no matter what. i love a good afterlife game

every fandom-specific game concept i can think of that succeeds is tied to a huge fandom like pokemon. bc no matter what type of game it is, there will be enough people who like that kind of game and also like pokemon to keep it going

i think theres just not enough digimon fans to make a digimon game work. which is sad bc i like digimon

I only know of a couple AU games out there, so I have a question for you nonnies.

I want to make a survival game based off the Last of Us. I've already started to write up a few things, but I'm still unsure if it should be a jamjar, a jamjar + AU, or full on AU?

I do like the idea of it being entirely AU where players have to AU their characters into the setting, but I can see the appeal for some people to have their character pulled from canon.

If you were a player, would you prefer it to be one or the other, or would you be okay with a mix of both?

i'd be interested in a postapocalyptic survival game, but personally, i don't see a lot of interesting ways to AU a character into that (personally). it's not like a setting with a lot of rich lore and cool ways to change your character, since in the end every character is going to have to be a survivalist in some way.

that's just one personal opinion, though.

I can definitely see where you're coming from. I imagine if you were playing a character who has this really tragic backstory from a lore heavy fantasy world and have certain titles like Prince and such, it probably would be very meh to translate that into tLoU setting.

When I was thinking about doing jamjar/pulled from canon, I was imagining it would be a complete powerloss thing so people really do have to lean into survival aspects since they can't rely on magic, super strength, etc. to handle threats. This is honestly what I'm leaning the most into, but I'm definitely open to hearing opinions one way or the other.

As someone interested in a postapocalyptic survival game, is there anything in particular you can think of that would be a big deal breaker for you? Or something you think would really help keep you engaged in the setting?

I've never played an AU game but I think the concept sounds fun, especially for this setting. I'm imagining this to mean characters would have always been there, right? Blending their back stories/histories in with the setting? Apologies if this is a stupid question.

Can I ask what a mix of AU/jamjar would be like? I've never played that either.

Also, this idea sounds really cool, anon! Just wanted to share my excitement. Would love a game with this sort of setting. I've been itching to try out a survival game.

Not stupid at all!! Yeah, for an AU game, characters would have always been from the setting world. And players would just convert their backstories/histories into something that's suitable for canon.

For a mix, it would be some characters are AU'd into the setting and others would be pulled from canon. So you might have someone play Kratos who was pulled from God of War canon, but someone playing AU'd Atreus who was born into the world the game is set in.

It's been exciting to work on it!
