Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.
Do not solicit money, Dreamwidth points, or other currency unless you are offering a good or service in return.

this is just like my opinion man, etc., but when i switched from games to psls (especially with people mostly in the same boat), i did notice a marked change in how much thread partners contributed. in retrospect it made me wonder if games specifically attract players who'd prefer not to put in the work themselves, skewing the entire experience

definitely agree that moving away from games to psls introduced me to a lot of players who were a lot more willing to put in the work with me. but the truth is there are some people in this hobby who just want to run into everything blind and not plot or even discuss, just do. which that works for some people, but it's not my personal play style. but if you ever wanna do juicy psls where you can throw things back and forth to get things going and keep them moving, we are out there anon. i love playing with others who want to put in the work with me.

also, airt, i think games definitely attract players who need someone to feed them ideas. games give them a sandbox they can play in without them having to put in too much leg work, if you will. that's not the case for everyone but i noticed it's very common. it's not entirely a bad thing and it's not all game players, thankfully. just really sucks when the energies don't match with your thread partners.

Perfectly said, anon! I love players who throw spanners into things and we let things organically spiral. It can happen in games with patient/creative game players, but I find the fact PSLs don't exist on an actual calendar allows for a lot more freedom and caters significantly to backtagging. (I find players not in a rush to close threads to move onto the next month's plot has given me the juiciest PSLs.)
