i'm an old, old kpop stan - i was around when shinhwa and s.e.s. debuted, for anyone who knows. not so much anymore, but i still look back on both the good and the bad with fondness. started digging up some of my old faves to see how they're doing, had a good time until i realized one of my absolute faves committed last year. the reason why i am a not-so-much-anymore kind of fan is because about 6 years ago, one of my dearest absolute faves also committed.

idk, i'm just tired of that god damn industry not taking care of their talents. 6 years ago was bad enough - it was around christmas, so i was trying to do all my holiday shopping while periodically having grief meltdowns - but for this one, like... i guess it's softened because it was last year, but i feel more numb than anything. i'm so scared that another one will go way too young, but it's just like... fuck, no emphasis, very quietly.

i think 6 years ago was the worst of it - not even chester bennington and robin williams got me that hard - but i still feel like every time this happens, it was my fault. like, no matter how irrational it is, there was something i could've done, even though thaat's impossible.

i guess it just feels heavy. i just looked up that fave's debut mv today, remembered how much that smile used to make me smile too. i wish things could have been different.

As someone who rarely puts down that preference but when I do it's usually dependant on the character I'm posting with, the meme and my mood. Mostly my mood though, and what I feel like playing, though.

i don't get the feeling op means they've offended people just have seen others offended. i have definitely seen some anons here get defensive about their tag speed and have accused people with different paces of being overinvested

that's still likely not everyone but a vocal minority can skew someone's perception, especially if they're seeing comments about it in two different places

This is part of the reason I stopped being a kpop stan. I can still listen to the music I enjoyed once in awhile, but it's not the same. I no longer follow any of the members of any of the groups because the illusion is completely shattered.

A friend of mine is still actively a kpop stan and tries to talk to me about it and I can't help but cringe when she talks about how one member of a group kept being hiatused because of his severe anxiety problems but she's "so happy!!" that he's back now but they have made no changes to his workload or schedule to accommodate his anxiety and it shows because bro still looks miserable.

I hope the industry improves some day and starts taking better care of their talent but it's going to be long road and the corruption runs very very deep so I am not holding my breath.
