there's a lot of options! i could be a clinical psychologist, which is what i'm currently leaning towards; that would mean working in a hospital or clinic, probably in a bigger team, helping people experiencing mental illnesses, probably by helping diagnose them/administer tests and/or planning and providing psychological help. i could do a supplemental pedagogy programme and work in a school or a clinical setting where i'd be helping kids, but that's not really my thing. i could go to therapy school for another 3-4 years and become a therapist, which would be fun but also expensive and possibly overwhelming since i'd most likely be working at the same time. i could also do psychology-adjacent stuff like HR or coaching, but they're not super interesting to me either. or i could stay in academia and teach people, which is my backup plan in case it turns out i'm tremendously shit at working with patients

oh hey there fellow recent juror, i'm here because a friend saw this and asked me if i was you (i served on a jury in january). it's been really interesting reading through this and comparing/contrasting it with my own experience. how long were your trial days, and what (if any) breaks did you get in the middle of them?

i should add: these are not all the options for someone with a psych degree (there is a surprising number of places that will want a psychologist, not necessarily a clinical one, including prisons, courts, sports orgs, etc.) but they are the main ones i've given thought to and actually know anything about

trial days for me were 9 to abooooout 5, depending when the last witness wrapped up (other than Deliberation Hell) and we got a 1 hour break for lunch plus ~20 minute breaks in the morning and afternoon. So actual trial time was a little over six hours a day.

Playing a loving, supportive, dominant husband who encourages his shy, modest, mousy wife to embrace her secret slutty side, leading to everything from fucking in public/risk of discovery to group sex/swinging, but even when things are raunchy and degrading and rough, he takes care of her and makes sure she's comfortable with everything and it helps her find confidence in other ways

It feels like my brain can't settle between "wholesome fluff" and "the dirtiest smut" and tries to split the difference

One of my characters is more popular than the other in terms of tag-ins and overall interest...

But lately I just want to write my other character but things have been super quiet whenever I try to be more active with him.

If I could find just one person who likes this character I'd be so happy.

I can keep things going for a little while if my cr and I can come up with plots amongst ourselves, but I'm pretty heavily plot-based so once the plot seems like it's not going anywhere I'm inevitably going to lose interest

the vibes have become weird and bad in my current game ever since the last app round. the comms are quiet and there isn't any fun plotting or excitement going on any more. all but one of the mods are on hiatus due to being burned out and so are many of the more active players. i don't know how to pinpoint it but it feels like someone flipped a switch overnight and now everyone's done with it and wants to leave. :(

secondly, i do currently pay for Filmora for video purposes (i sometimes do tiktok edits)! so it also can do gifs so i'll use it for that too. all combined with using Otis BG3 photo mode mod that i also pay for but there is a free version of that as well i've heard.

I work with the internal controls division to make sure nobody is cutting corners to get things done faster. If things are moving too slow, me and my unit figure out why and propose remediation actions.

Basically we make sure nobody is wasting taxpayer money.

I've been in this game for a while and had quite a good CR circle going. Bad RL stuff happened and I had two bad activity months in a row (one where I just barely made AC and one where I was funny hiatused) and coming back now feels almost like starting over. I'm getting ignored on Plurk/CR memes and my open top levels aren't being tagged whereas before the big hiatus I'd have plenty of bites.

I am tagging out of course but it feels like practically starting from zero and having to re-establish my character in everyone's minds. I usually never hiatus or have more than a week or two of downtime so I'm not sure if this is a typical result of having a couple slow months but it feels bad.

sometimes it happens like that, yeah. i was out a few years back for like 2 months discussed with the mods due to a major surgery and when I came back it was like pulling teeth to get re-established, including a helper mod character being accusatory about my character not knowing what happened in the last month. I ended up dropping but the other 2-3 times I've had to hiatus in the past 20 years I eventually got back into the groove of things.

Give it a little time to see if it improves.

it's different depending on if you're in-house (you all work together, there's a project manager/supervisor making sure you have deliverables) or freelance (looser structure, usually you have a liaison or the client contacts you directly).

it's definitely less structured if you're doing everything yourself, but it generally goes like this: storyboarding > layout planning esp for print (i fucking hate this step haha) > pencilling/inking > rendering > lettering > page proofs (basically everything put together for editing and review before it goes to the publishing side).

when i was working in-house, we had specific roles per project. say we had 3 titles we were working on at the same time; i may be doing inks only for issue #24 for title A this week then pencils only for issue #25 next week, then do strictly inks for title B issue 10, then render flats (basic colors, no shading) for title C or pinch-hit if someone's sick. it's more routine working with a team even if it's remote work because you always have someone checking in on your work, and it can really feel like A Job after a while.

freelance is much harder in that you're doing pretty much 3-5 jobs independently or with 2-3 other people who are also similarly overworked, but if your hustle game is good it can pay more than in-house because in-house pays you by page and if there's not a lot of pages then there's not a lot of work for you to earn from. with freelance you can sometimes negotiate a flat rate per page per skill (i have a different fee for inking vs pencilling), then additional hourly for revisions, and that's just for interiors. covers in my experience get priced much higher because there's usually more work involved, at least for me, since i'll being doing everything from sketching all the way to final colors.

also this is just for print, webcomics/webtoons are a completely different thing too and they have even wilder processes from what i've heard. how much micromanagement your project manager or client wants can also complicate things, because there definitely are some folks who would tell you you're drawing it wrong (meaning they want you to emulate a specific artist's style but are too cheap to hire that artist).

same, only the vibes have been off for a few months now. feels like everyone is mostly checked out.

posting anon because i don't actually have a journal for any furuba character yet, and i'm open to playing different ones! i've finished the manga the other day and i'm itching to play a post-canon psl, ideally centred around the sohmas having to adjust to normal life, but i would love to involve some side characters too. i'd be open to playing tohru, rin, shigure, uotani, or hanajima, and could try my hand at akito as well. i wouldn't mind doubling (i think that's the right term for it? what i mean is playing two or more different characters while you play two or more as well) to make the scope wider, or we could just stick to a ship and focus on them, that works for me too. some ships i like are tohru/rin, tohru/uotani/hanajima, rin/hatsuharu, shigure/anyone but especially akito, and tohru/akito; i like them both as romantic/sexual relationships and as platonic ones, so i wouldn't mind writing them as either (smut is completely optional, even if we do go the shipping route, we can avoid it or ftb, whatever you prefer), and i'm open to other ships as well, just lemme know what you like and i might be sold on it

some additional info:
- i haven't watched the shows or read "another" yet. i will soon, but for now i'd like to base this strictly on the manga and come up with our own version of what happens after the ending
- i'm down to play on memes too, either as warm-up/to see if we're compatible before diving into a psl, or instead of a psl if you'd prefer that
