I think I'm getting tired of those 'magic effect makes your character feel a different way' events, like "oops you ate the chocolate that makes you aggressive!" or "you picked the flower that causes you to be happy all the time!". I get why they're fun sometimes because they push characters out of their comfort zones, but they're hard to do a lot of because...I'm playing my character because I like their personality. I don't want to change it! It just feels weird and out of character, especially when its a TDM prompt or a game where you don't have a lot of CR yet. IDK, maybe it's a skill issue?

I've pretty much always hated those events and often leave games with too many of them. I know some people are just looking for the fastest way to insert tab a into slot b but I'd rather get there with character building and consistent CR building

everyone's been busy (including me, tbh) so on the one hand i'm down to just chill and do something else for a little while.

on the other hand, the really annoying part of my brain is doing the thing. you know the one. the bit where it's talking about your insecurities and how no one's tagging me back because my tags are boring and the only reason people tag me in game is because of obligation etc.

idk man, i don't remember having this problem back before i took my sabbatical from the hobby. i guess it's because the last time i had a character i wanted to write this badly, it was back when dwrp was super active and now that it's died down i want a fix but can't get a hit at all. feels bad.

seeing someone you know and enjoy playing with being talked about on wg and wanting to make a counterpoint to the complaints, but knowing it won't be taken seriously.

genuinely think we should shut down wg already. rpanons is enough, there's no benefit to allowing assholes wide freedom to shit anonymously. either complain with your handle attached or suck it up.

too depressed to play. i miss it tho

several wankers were rightly driven out over the past couple of years due to things blowing up on wg though, so we can at least be thankful for that

wg getting shut down would likely just result in an offshoot with worse modding tbh

i'll give it that, but unfortunately plenty of people who don't deserve it have been abused too

sigh. you're right. sucks that some people won't be able to function without a place to be a huge asshole without consequences. at least rpanons is mostly decent and modding is good.

they're fine and harmless when they're one option of multiple but when they're the only plot to engage with they suck

but i think that about most genres of event prompt

enforcing boundaries never feels good to the person on the other side, and unfortunately that means they might react badly. it's not a reason to compromise your own needs, though. and fwiw i'd say the same thing to the person who hurt my feelings years ago by drawing a boundary i didn't understand at the time. i hope that person isn't still negatively impacted and i hope your rp brings you joy again, too.

i would love to think like that but this person is to this day spreading rumors about me and trying to make rp difficult for me for simply telling them i didn't want to play out a plot i had told them i was not into, and then that we shouldn't play together at all when they refused to stop trying to make me part of it. i always wonder if the next person i say "hey, this makes me uncomfortable and i don't want to play it" to will also do this for years and it makes me ghost them instead of trying to see if we can get rid of the uncomfortable thing. i just feel tired and worried that they'll react badly to the same degree where i have to deal with them being mad about it years after the fact.

+1 it's incredible seeing anons there go all surprise pikachu when no one simply takes them at their word anymore after so many baseless accusations get easily refuted.

willing to try my hand at any of the characters listed. specifically interested in canon-compliant scenarios and canon aus, but i'd be equally down for urban fantasy as well.

There's also the opposite where there have been players who were super abusive for years but more or less got away with it because the victims were unpopular. Wankgate was never about enforcing rp justice and it's suspicious that it gets brought up as justification every time the subject pops up.
