Have you looked at Kabru from Dungeon Meshi/Delicious in Dungeon? Maybe Mugen from Samurai Champloo? Or Tyki Mikk from D.Gray-man (though some minor photoshopping might be required). Maybe Rajendra from The Heroic Legend of Arslan, though his hair's kind of short.

Also, if you don't mind dipping into fanart, there's a lot of genderswapped Esmeralda fanart from Disney's Hunchback. Or maybe Thorns from Arknights.

I just got into a relationship after what’s been a verrrryy long time. I feel so lacking in how-to-date and be a girlfriend because it’s been so long, like I don’t know what normal couples do, what’s an expected amount to text with someone, or if people call others. It’s made me realize that because of my lack of experience and for how long it’s been since my last relationship, I have no idea what “normal” is for a relationship. :C

The classic dark fantasy stuff of the 1960s would be Dark Shadows. It was a soap opera that lasted for about five years. It had vampires, witches, zombies, werewolves, basically every dark fantasy monster you could think of.

However, if you end up sampling it and liking it, Big Finish (An audio drama company famous largely for Doctor Who, but who've also produced content for Highlander, Judge Dredd, Dan Dare, Sherlock Holmes, Robin Hood, Star Trek, and more) has released a ton of Dark Shadows content featuring the original cast. Do not judge it based on the Tim Burton movie.

That said, it's a soap opera from the 60s. There's some questionable stuff regarding Roma in there.

From the mid-70s, if that's not too far, consider Kolchak: The Night Stalker, about a reporter who ends up dealing with supernatural mysteries on a regular basis.

less a woe and more just awkward? when you get an opportunity to have A and B interact but you realize B's player is not either not actually a great rper (grammatical errors, run-on sentences, characterization that's inconsistent or very superficial, info-dumping, one-liners, lack of yes and or putting the onus of progressing the thread on you), or the log or prompt they offer you is criminally boring, or when you sit down and try to make it work anyway you don't see the cr going anywhere interesting despite the ideas you had in your head.

like, the idea of their cr was nice, but the reality of it in actual practice isn't great... sucks. especially when they seem excited about it but you aren't so much anymore.

haha, no problem! i haven't watched dark shadows but i have watched strange paradise which, you probably know, was also a canadian supernatural soap opera that came out in the late 1960s (why i watched that but never dark shadows idk)

but thanks for replying and recommending kolchak! idk if it'll be relevant to what i'm looking for here but who knows! maybe it'll inspire something else. and maybe i should get around to finally watching dark shadows. it can't be that much worse and offensive than jean paul's increasingly boneheaded decisions

anon, they like you for who you are! just keep doing what youve been doing and dont think about it too much, or it might affect how you look at your relationship and THAT can really tear you two apart. from experience, i obsessed over if i was good enough and kept asking my partner for reassurance and that got tiring over a couple of years for them (understandably so)

just trust that they will tell you when youre doing something wrong, and remember that they love you for you so youre already doing the best you can as their girlfriend!

I just had this happen in a PSL of mine, due to plot and character development, and I love it with every piece of my heart. It's a show of how far they've come.

i see my own flaws and excuses in them. shit has to change. it's time

angst. couples arguing really nastily about things. tempers flaring, characters being icly unreasonable and verbally cruel because they're lashing out. big dramatic fights. soft make ups where no one actually apologizes.
