- two characters having a lot of angst and fighting and pushing each other away while working alongside each other and falling for each other at the same time. bonus if one falls much faster than the other and their obvious fondness just causes more angst and fighting.

it doesn't always mean someone's overinvested, but it can. if the character has the same name as them and shares many other attributes as well (same hobbies and interests, same or very similar personality type, same or very similar personal history, etc etc), i'd call that a red flag.

Because Dawn Sailer has me wondering, with as popular a franchise as it is to rp from - has there ever been a Genshin inspired game setting?

It feels like a good setting for DW style rp. People could app as Descenders (or maybe Native Au?) Would be power nerfing in that characters would loose their usual powers but gain a vision instead or could choose to not have any at all.

I'm learning how to crochet and knit. I thought it'd be really difficult but it's been really fun, even if it is just doing straight rows right now! Drop me any recs of favorite patterns/books/vids cause I am dedicated to practicing now.

Batman Beyond. I grew up with it as being my defining version of Batman. I love the show, Terry, the villains, the stuff that could be done with the fantasy future tech, the whole shebang. But the fact this is one of the most depressing endings for Bruce Wayne EVER put into media makes me feel like any interactions I would have with other DC character, Batfam especially and no matter what universe they were from, would always be tainted by Terry having this knowledge that "Oh yeah, BTW I come from a universe where Batman grew old, became bitter and alone, and successfully drove away every single person he ever cared about." It's like having a permanent pall cast over everything that can't really be gotten rid of since Terry's arc is tied so closely to being Bruce's successor.

i think you're okay to play him tbh. i've seen terry's around here and there and they didn't seem to have a problem. but if you're worried, you could just play in a game that doesn't have a dc cast. that way if someone apps in after they know what they're getting into

but given how many multiverses there are, different versions of characters (and characters who are written very differently even within the same continuity) most people aren't going to focus on the depressing aspect of it for very long. but even if they do, something to keep in mind is that terry's future is only one possible future. if a character finds it bleak, they have some control over changing it by choosing to stay with bruce instead of being driven away

it just feels like playing a text adventure video game ime. as long as you're aware it's an ai it doesn't feel like rping in the same way as dwrp does.

i mean while we're at it, why not? my first thoughts are killstealing (spies? assassins? mmo mechanics made real?), vying for limited resources (post-apocalyptic? dystopian?), abrasive personalities colliding, or miscommunication that they're too proud to clear up but honestly there are so many possibilities and they all depend on the setting

there was one, but it was invite-only, and closed a while back. that said, another genshin game would still be popular if it opened.

I think a full game like this would struggle given that those most interested in the setting would also probably want to play Genshin characters, which would be complicated if the game is set in present day with an ongoing plot.

Meanwhile I know far more people who play arknights than people who rp from it, so I feel this would be less an issue there.

I imagine by nature of how much of the game plot hasn't been revealed yet, the best idea would be to not center the game around it. Probably avoid it entirely. Use it more for setting and flavor than plot.

I feel like the easy option is to go for more of a sandbox with slice of life, exploration, and the like as the main focus. Events would be things like the Festivals and other such things in game, plus whatever else mods or the players wanted to add to it. Smaller scale things like a musical festival, Cook off, Tournament, and the like in addition to Lantern Rite, Windblume, etc.

Areas could be tricky, but I figure either accept that new areas can be added as they're added to game or they can be mod created and then just accept that the game is set in a different Teyvat than the game is.

I'd say no real Network, but more... Message boards and post boxes. With players able to teleport to the various locations relatively freely for intermingling.

Of course none of this is super thought out, and it's entirely based on the sort of idea that I'd prefer with the setting. Which might not be true for everyone.

There's the sumeru internet for a possible network but I think letters and messages would be cute.

trading card game

characters gather from around many worlds in order to play a competitive card game where victory grants you fabulous but trivial prizes. the prizes don't matter. they're wonderful but meaningless. "90 day all expenses paid space cruise" or whatever.

but every character who joins gets a card minted of them, and the cards have stats, and the stats increase as the character is active in the game. finish a thread? +1 ATK. 10 comments in a thread? +1 DEF. contribute to running a player plot or something? +1 LCK. that's all there is to AC: the more active you are, the more powerful your character's card is.

when a character joins, they get 5 random cards (NPCs will also have cards so there's some starting pool). every month the character is in the game, they get 2 more random cards. characters may also win cards through playing with other characters (all roleplayed.)

here is the motivational kicker: characters can sell cards to an NPC for currency. what currency matters in the multiverse? the ability to grant a wish. you get enough wishcoins, your character's wish is granted. they will never get there selling lowbie cards, but high-stat cards are worth a LOT.

the mod team mints new cards every app round. every month, there's one new copy of each character's card which could be distributed to (and won/bought from) new applicants. anyone could get the highest value card in the game each round. card values don't drop if there are multiple copies floating around, either. the NPC always buys them for the value that goes with the stats on the cards.

wouldn't this eventually get into a position where newbies just don't have enough of a decent deck to beat oldbies?

Game based on Severance. Characters work in a mysterious, underground office hellscape with labyrinthine hallways working jobs they don't fully understand but also having no memories except of their time in the offices.

They're assured that their out of work selves are fine. Memories are slowly regained of their out of work selves who are still in canon worlds doing canon things. But they're not copies, they're the canon characters getting dragged into the office and losing memories of it each time they're returned back to their worlds.

I'll probably binge Nijiyon when it's all done solely for my wonderful girls R3Birth. Jury's still out on SIF 2. I got burned out a little when SIF swapped to basically "oops! all URs!" and want to see how the card system is structured before I go for it.

Some of the SRs and SSRs were cute, guys! We don't need to do all URs! We can go back to the days of matching costume sets that aren't song outfits!
