trading card game

characters gather from around many worlds in order to play a competitive card game where victory grants you fabulous but trivial prizes. the prizes don't matter. they're wonderful but meaningless. "90 day all expenses paid space cruise" or whatever.

but every character who joins gets a card minted of them, and the cards have stats, and the stats increase as the character is active in the game. finish a thread? +1 ATK. 10 comments in a thread? +1 DEF. contribute to running a player plot or something? +1 LCK. that's all there is to AC: the more active you are, the more powerful your character's card is.

when a character joins, they get 5 random cards (NPCs will also have cards so there's some starting pool). every month the character is in the game, they get 2 more random cards. characters may also win cards through playing with other characters (all roleplayed.)

here is the motivational kicker: characters can sell cards to an NPC for currency. what currency matters in the multiverse? the ability to grant a wish. you get enough wishcoins, your character's wish is granted. they will never get there selling lowbie cards, but high-stat cards are worth a LOT.

the mod team mints new cards every app round. every month, there's one new copy of each character's card which could be distributed to (and won/bought from) new applicants. anyone could get the highest value card in the game each round. card values don't drop if there are multiple copies floating around, either. the NPC always buys them for the value that goes with the stats on the cards.
