Help! My rp partner hasn't invited me to play our OTP in their game! (´・ω・`)

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

i don't really get the permanent catch alls. they feel very anti-game. like, biggest example is i know there's a CR cast in the game but they'd probably be better off just playing in a comm of their own if they aren't going to interact.

Having been harassed and stalked over my tags in the past, if I found out this was someone I was rping with, I would never tag with them again. Find someone else to rp with and stop stalking your partners.

that's exactly what it is.

not sure about op's case, but it isn't stalking when they have commentary, link posts, and tag plurks so you get to actively see what they're doing. i've just started muting those.

Re: ERKU

It was a trend started in prisma because the game was so huge event level logs would reach captcha in two days and would get so big there'd be loading issues

Linking to your permanent catch-all was the best solution to it, and a lot of people like it on its own merits because it's more organized and easier to kept track of for activity check.

I have nothing against catch-alls in general but would prefer they be for a 1-2 month period of time, not a permanent catch-all. otherwise it does become too insular, or at least give the impression of insularity. with regular catch-all posts you at least see evidence that the character is still around and potentially available for interactions.

as someone who was recently sadsacking internally about not getting a reply i'm really looking forward to, even while i, the hypocrite, also slam out some easy popcorn tags while taking longer to ruminate on deep important feelsy prose in my favourite threads... this was actually weirdly reassuring to read, and a great reminder that this happens to other people too. i'm not op but this made me feel better, thank you!

Seeing how common tag Plurks are, now is anyone’s first assumption here ‘stalking’? Lmao

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2021-08-18 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
^ this

it's usually pretty obvious, no thread stalking required

(Anonymous) 2021-08-18 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
mine's super old, going back to baby's first fandom. it started out longer and kinda unwieldy, I had to shorten it to fit in the character limit for my IRC nick, and over time an abbreviated version of that ended up sticking.

(Anonymous) 2021-08-18 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
tbh for me i often save tags i'm highly motivated on for last, either so i have time to really think them through and make sure my response is equally good, or as a reward for doing my other tags.

i know not everyone does it that way and it sucks to feel neglected, but if they're still interested... maybe?

if that's the origin, i can get why in a game like prisma that's always moving and active, but in a game like erku, the comms feel dead and stagnant right now.

Re: ayrt

(Anonymous) 2021-08-18 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
is erku not dead? outside of a couple insular casts, there's very little going on at this point. plotless kink bingo only stays interesting for so long.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2021-08-18 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
... it's still stalking if you're watching someone's tag plurk to keep track of who they're tagging and when, anon

da

(Anonymous) 2021-08-18 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
it is absolutely not stalking. words have meaning.

now, is it obsessive to constantly make note of it?sure. stalkery would be that person a while back who was comparing comment counts. looking at a public tag plurk and noticing who they tag last etc is not stalking.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2021-08-18 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
okay, it's not stalking.

but it is weirdly obsessive OP still needs to touch grass.

(Anonymous) 2021-08-18 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
i've lost interest in our tags overall

then... why does this bother you? just drop the thread.

they could have used the gif of shadow cresting the hill at the start of shadow the hedgehog

toplevels and tagging out

(Anonymous) 2021-08-18 10:54 am (UTC)(link)
i've been chatting with friends how it seems that people will throw up toplevels for any kind of event or mingle, but few actually tag out. it's been our experience in two games and i saw a third that had a log community with a lot of open logs, but few people tagging them.

is this the same experience in your own games? has this always been the standard?

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2021-08-18 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
da but not really? it sounds like op doesn't have many threads, they might just be using that tag plurk to see when they get tagged, if they have plurk open more than their email

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2021-08-18 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
if someone has a tag plurk you get an unread notif every single time they update it. if you're following it to keep track of your threads you won't tend to mute it and will see all of the new tags right there.

it's barely even obsessive it's just.. how plurk works

Re: toplevels and tagging out

(Anonymous) 2021-08-18 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
it really depends on the game ime. if the game allows top levels to be used for AC no matter if someone replies or not then it's more common because it's an easy way to pass AC

I find that games where this is common are busy and faster ones so it's usually the case that everyone's already got so much going on that there isn't a lot of reason to tag out everywhere as well

Re: toplevels and tagging out

(Anonymous) 2021-08-18 12:58 pm (UTC)(link)
to be perfectly honest, i put up open TLs so i am not being insular (just in case someone is secretly burning with the desire to tag with me), but i mostly tag out with my castmates i have made plans with.

inevitably no one new tags into my TLs, so i'm not worried about it.

Re: toplevels and tagging out

(Anonymous) 2021-08-18 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
it definitely depends on the game, but most of the time I find people who only top level but don't tag out tend to be very slow on tags so they just make a top level for anyone who wants to tag them.

i personally prefer tagging out more than topleveling though

nah, the network still sees action. people are playing, it's more a matter of where they are putting their threads.

i usually don't mind big insular casts since i typically don't care to tag with them anyway, but i think they are having a suffocating effect on this game.
