i wanna rp from manga, but i'm not really reading any, and i'm kinda out of the loop. things i'm looking for:

- pretty art, ranging from full shoujo to something like berserk - i'm not really into the goofier side of shounen manga art,

- genre elements! fantasy/supernatural/sci-fi are all good; not looking for slice-of-life drama or sports,

- at least a few adult characters, because that's what i'll end up playing,

- something that doesn't lean too hard on fluff; i like to have stuff like social or political issues to play with.


it'd also be great to find something ongoing. obscurity/popularity doesn't matter, i'll happily be the only other person reading the thing you're reading. thanks in advance, anons!

shokoku no altair

fantasy ottoman empire series. still has some fantastical shonen elements but mostly war/politics/social issues because... it's an ottoman empire analog lol. plant of adults and pretty art too. bonus: you don't need to know rl history to appreciate the series, but there's obviously a lot of care put into portraying historical equivalents of people/nations/etc.

It's over, but PLUTO. Sci-fi mystery. It's an adaptation of another manga's storyline, but it's very, very different in tone.

Also over, but the anime's currently running on Toonami so there'll still be new fans coming in, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin. A rewritten version of the 1977 show with more attention paid to various characters, including the adults.
