Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. stuck in a rut with cr :(

I'm relatively new to dwrp and it's been so much fun up until recently when all of a sudden it hasn't been. Most of my CR has dropped and I love the 1 or 2 people who still remain but I'm definitely feeling stuck and going in circles with my character, and I'm a little bit stumped on how to solve it. Should I toplevel more (I haven't really much recently)? Tag out more? All of the above? Or is this a sign that I'm burning out from the game/the character in general? Tell me how you get your spark back anons :(

Tagging out more always seems to help for me. In this climate, people are usually willing to play with you if you do the hard work of tagging out.

tag out, top level, find more ways to interact with the setting.

come up with a character plot you can drive them towards for a few months (do they want to learn a sport, learn to fight, is there something in the setting that can push the character to do something they normally wouldn't?)

do something ridiculous that would spark someone else's interests (a serious character getting his foot stuck in a grate and has to ask for help, a fighter seen losing a fight with cute harmless birds, character tries to do something and fails and starts a chain reaction that affects someone else)

come up with a more serious plot (do they not open up easily? what would make them talk about an important event in their past? can the setting help with that? maybe you can start a conflict the character has to resolve. do they tend to have bad ideas? get them involved in something illegal.)

It might take a while to find something that works but if you think it's worth sticking around these methods have helped me recover from a rut.

these are all excellent ideas, with various levels of work involved so pick your poison, op.

but to add to that, don't be afraid to coast for a month. games are supposed to be long term so if you need some time to think and get your tag energy back, a month off won't hurt. if you don't think you can make AC then hiatus, otherwise pick at a few tags for AC but don't stress yourself until after the next app round when there's fresh blood also looking for CR.
