Rundown:
rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.
Rules:
Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

(Anonymous) 2019-08-15 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)that in of itself is not terrible--lord knows i was being weird and perverted as hell all over the internet at that age but again, the age difference also directly tied into the writing quality. the language they used came across very strongly like they were self-inserting or writing for the sake of wish-fulfillment. i did not feel comfortable with that at all, nor did i feel like expending so much energy to help "mentor" them into a better writer or something. rarepair wasn't worth that that time and energy, i might as well have been writing fic by myself at that point.
interacting with someone from an entirely different generation i don't think is an inherently a bad thing or something that should be discouraged. working with kids in an after school program many years ago, i came to really appreciate the differences in that gap--kids are smarter than anyone gives credit for and they have a fresh perspective on life a lot of adults lack. their creativity and imagination is boundless. but it's also impossible to deny that those generational differences are there, and kids are incredibly easily influenced--for better or worse. i'm not sure i want to feel responsible for that any of that influence just by existing as an older peer in their space, especially a fandom space so open to interpretation and with such little moderation.
so i guess to answer more clearly, my hard no is 18 and under, though in actual practice i will probably prefer to play with someone who's early-mid 20s or older for the sake of having more similar levels of writing/experience. you get experience through trial and error and that only comes with time. i think teens, especially young teens, have not developed the emotional maturity or ability to completely separate ic/ooc yet, or not overreact to shit adults are already very jaded to. not that adult titty babies don't do that here already, but i digress, teens are going to do it more reliably by virtue of their age.
