Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

it's possible that you're not bad so much as just...okay? maybe your writing is fine but not very engaging. maybe your characterization makes sense on paper but just doesn't have that spark of whatever it is that makes them sound like themselves. maybe you include hooks and all that but they just aren't very interesting to others.

i feel like mediocrity is harder to crit than just being bad. "be more interesting" isn't really helpful crit, and no one wants to say they have a problem with someone's playing when the problem is just that the person isn't very exciting to play with.

yeah.. that's probably it tbh. it doesn't really make me feel any better. i've been trying to make stuff a lot more interesting lately, but so far it's all the same. ah well.

mediocrity is really hard to crit, and it's unfortunate. you aren't bad but you manage to not be up there on someone else's priority list

this is shitty advice probably but the way dwrp works you can be mediocre and still get tags if you're playing a popular character andor one everyone wants to fuck

If this is your problem, them my advice to you is to take risks. Don't necessarily do the safest, most IC option - get a little wild. As long as you can justify it, you can play with characters doing something a little out of the norm. Push them out of their limits, push them into uncomfortable situations to make them grow

do something unexpected, hilarious, scary, or off the wall in your tags
