Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

Just having other things to do besides interacting with mod OCs and world politics would be a good start. Or if world politics is a serious thing (which tbf, given the canon and setting I totally get why it's there at all), actually have there be more dire consequences for not obeying it. I was one of the players that complained about character motivations because nearly every conflict the mods came up with barely did much to inconvenience my characters, and got resolved without them having to contribute either. The only other thing to do was prayers or fight the ayakashi of the week to grind followers for...bragging rights? None of the rewards actually seemed to matter much to the game at large (and they were expensive as hell). Heck, I barely got to use any of the god abilities I started with.

Considering you already did mention about incentivizing more player run plots in another thread, I think that alone is already a step in the right direction. Many of my favorite moments, or interesting parts of TFS had been player events than the plot ones tbh. I had heard stories that the reason why people stopped doing them as much was because mod communication was so abysmal it got impossible to orchestrate anything.

Agreeing to all of this. I ran a few plots back when I played here and it took literal months to get anything approved, that plus the main plot being so unengaging are the main reasons why I left. A plot that's less reliant on NPCs and has actual consequences would be amazing, even if it's more hands-off due to being a sandbox. Just give characters a motive to interact with the setting/game mechanics.

I'd absolutely come back to TFS if it came back under a new mod team. Personally I don't have much faith in the team that dropped it, but I still love the concept and met a lot of really cool players there.

Also forgot to mention that the other thing that killed TFS for me was the over abundance of party/mingle/festival logs too. Training logs were already set up mostly this way (because there was never something to be actually training for, but that's a complaint for different time), and nearly every other event for awhile was like that too. Because the mods couldn't think of any other possible way to get characters to interact, or something. That was sort of the impression I got at least.

They're fine every once in awhile, but when that's all there is you run into some serious writing fatigue.
